I was "turned on" to this board by a former co-worker. She is a serious quilter who recently persuaded me to sell/ barter with her for one of my FW machines.
I was blessed about a year ago to move to our "growing older" home, which includes a 600sq.ft. studio. Moving my sewing room from the basement to a room with skylights and real windows has made a dream come true. My DH and friends are wondering why it is taking me so long to get settled in, but they have no idea how big my stash really is. (Well, maybe DH had an idea!)
I am a retired RN, who taught myself to sew about 50 yrs. ago when I was a bored latchkey kid on summer vacation. Started on mom's old treadle. My most recent undertaking is a business to create/ modify clothing to help make self care easier for persons with disabilities.
Still do quilts, mostly for gifts. I have moved recently into upcycling, creating new items from old, and I haunt resale shops for materials. I have a large collection of vintage aprons, having been raised with apron wearing grandmothers, as well as making new old-style ones from upcycled materials.
I enjoy reading the posts and chuckling over the mistakes that I have made over the years.
