Wow Rachel, that doesn't seem right. I agree that a 2nd opinion is needed here.

SDParent, I have not heard of that before, but I don't have children either. Maybe that could be the reason.

13 seems like so many in 2 years. I'm glad you're going for that 2nd opinion. If both dentists feel the same way, then OUCH - in the mouth and pocketbook!

There's a medical credit card called Care Credit. It's for dental and mecical bills. If you put more than $1,000 on it, you can pay it off in 12 months interest free. The dentist's office has applications and I've used this credit card several times.
