On the other blocks, I would stitch around each of the main characters, machine or hand quilt. It would be a little time consuming and a bit of fussy work, but would sure make the characters stand out even more. On the border, you could "echo" the prairie points 2 or 3 (or more?) times.
That was what I was actually toying with - The other ides I had was stitch in the outer border 1/4 " away from the prairie points.
