Personally I like brights with blacks and dk browns but a teal or turquoise would look fine. Audition some colors by putting them with these blocks and see what you like best.
And yes, that's what I call a "controlled scrappy" also. I have one on here somewhere that's called Frames. I called it a RIGIDLY controlled scrappy. LOL It was a booger to do because each block had sections of four different frames in it and not only did the pieces have to match up but the colors also. It might be in the UFO challenge thread if you what to look.
