I'm looking at the bottom photo and wondering what kind of foot you are using. It looks like a quilting or darning foot. If so, how would you be able to do a zigzag stitch to sew the round together?
The foot in the picture is a #34C -- which is a clear zig zag or any larger stitch foot. I used this foot to get it started and then switched to a cording foot which made is really easy.
