I have done a lot of jean quilts and I like to use the 6.5 inch square templete. I place it on the jean and draw around it and then cut them out. I will try and make a pattern in the quilt using the dark and light jeans. I have also mixed and matched cotton squares in with it so its not so heavy. I also don't use any batting and my backing is fleece. I cut the fleece bigger so I can fold it over the top of the quilt creating the binding.
