you did a good job. I have tried to do this by just templates and sewing them together, and never got far but have you ever tried the old English way? You trace around your template on paper. then you cut the material 1/4 inch around the paper. then with a running stitch turn the edges over and baste them down to the paper. then stitch them together. its easier and more acurate to cut the papers. when you have them all stitched together, rip out the papers. this is the method I used and it went together great. of course it's done by hand.
