I think wadding is batting so if you have small pieces use them in pot holders since they doesn't have to be matched up into bigger squares. Once you have a couple of square layers just slap odds and ends on top.

Or sew the pieces together to make up square sizes you do need. Lot us people just zig zag two edges together and then go on to add more.

I used batting scraps sewn together to make eyeglass cases - I made dozens when I had a cold and tried to stay in bed.
Some got sewn into bigger pieces and used for batting for some dog's bedding.
