I have come to this conclusion...wash everything or wash nothing. So I will try NOT washing the turnovers and charms, as well as NOT washing the background fabric. That way, if it shrinks, it will all shrink together. I always use color catcher sheets, so I'm not concerned about bleeding.

Yep I agree ALL or NOTHING! I myself am a nothing girl mainly out of lazyness now (when I made my first quilt I didn't know I was suposed to wash fabrics prior to cutting and sewing) but I do like the look that unwashed/non-preshurnk fabric gives a quilt after it is made and washed.
