I can see what you're saying about wanting to clean, oil, ect yourself. I would so like to be able to save the $ they charge not to mention the wait time while it is out being worked on. Honestly even though my husband is also very handy and great with computers I'd be scared to death that we'd mess something up big time. I love my Bernina but the price was enough to make me think twice about opening it up ourselves.
