I agree, stop with your needle in the down position. I tell my students if they think anything has shifted to start very slow until they know all is good then resume their speed. "if" there is a little jog and "if"they are troubled with the little jog, to stop right away and pick it out. Stopping and moving your hands will become automatic as you spend more time FMQ'g. We all had the little jerks when we started and very soon it will so automatic that you won't even realize that you are stopping and moving your hands.
