I go to lots of auctions in the course of my business. A very low starting bid is not what the seller expects. They have a reserve price set and if the bid does not equal or exceed the reserve they have the right to remove the item with no sale.
The very low starting bid is designed to start a bidding frenzy. At a real live auction this is how people get caught up in the bidding process and find that they have over bid their own budget.
Advice on auctions: Decide what you are willing to pay and DO NOT go over that price.

Exactly. And if it's been dropped a few times with bent parts and beat up maybe it's not worth that much anyway.
I agree, and they don't want you to return it. I would pass on this one.
