I missed the original post on this. I have a smooth top(hate it) and when it gets something on it I can't wipe off, I use Bon Ami cleanser (hard to find) and one of those netting scrubbies. Wash off the top with your hot water and soap, apply the Bon Ami and swirl around the spot, let dry for a bit, then use the scrubbie. Wash again with the soap and water and buff dry. Works like a charm everytime.
