I did get that off the Singer dating site.
The pedal freezes up on me after it moves back and forth a few times. The machine moves fine and the pedal moves fine until I put the belt on. The the pedal will move back and forth maybe 3 times and freeze. I am sure it is the operator but I don't know what to do.
Okay lets start with this one!

How tight do you have the belt on the treadle? It is suposed to be just tight enough to not slip but loose enough so it will not put any wear on the bushings in the machine.

Are the treadle irons oiled? use sewing machine oil on spots were metal rubs metal and the pitman arm. It sounds like the belt is a little too tight and the pitman needs oiling.

Try this out and let me know how it works.
