I've not been checking this thread for some reason and still thinking we're on our week "off" and I'm ahead!

Sheree, that's something I'd probably do! You and I must be cut from the same fabric!! LOL

Klue and Blue, wishing you both the best. We miss you.

Hi Leslie,
I noticed your beautiful batiks. I think I might switch (sigh!). Are you following a colour layout, or just using the colours you love? Also, are you sashing? I've never worked with batiks before and don't want to overwhelm the pattern!
Thanks for your help,
Sonia

Batiks are beautiful in this quilt!!! I'd follow your heart, and choose colors you love together!

I'm doing a trip around the world format, just like Jane did. I took the large diagram that Klue posted for us at the beginning, and printed it out, then coloured it in with coloured pencils. I assigned a particular batik to each of the colours I had used in the diagram. I had quite a few more batiks than I needed for the TRTW design, so I am using them in the triangles. I have decided not to use batiks for the outside edge triangles, I am going to use my muslin instead, so that I can do some nice quilting in them. Jane's quilt allows for a half inch sashing, so that I what I am going to do. I originally thought I would prefere a wider sashing, possibly 1 inch, or 1.5 inches, but nearly did my head in, trying to work out what to do about the triangles. The software probably would have worked it out, but I had just paid out for the rulers, so gave in and settled for the half inch sashing.

What a great idea Lacey for color placement. I was wondering what my end result was going to look like. Even though I'm using only red & blue batiks, they are different in color saturation and I don't want to end up with "blotches of too much in one area. Thanks for sharing your idea! Hugs

I'm doing something a bit different. I don't have a planned layout, but have printed a blank DJ from the software. Everytime I go to choose a fabric for a square or triangle, I look on my sheet. I color in whatever colors I use. Then I can see what's going on in the general area where other blocks have been made. If I muster up some energy, I'll take a photo. I just use my sharpies to put the color in.

That sounds like a great idea - I was starting to worry that I would have the same colors side by side. I think I'll go try that right now

Well, it's dawning on me that it might be a copyright violation if I post the layout from the DJ software. Perhaps my description is enough??

i love the way you are all planning your colours, I have decided to make all the blocks I can in the colours I have got and then to arrange them sympathecially when I have them all done. I know it sounds mad, but I will worry myself silly if i start planning colours now, not to mention ending up poorer than ever!

I've been taking my block pics and putting them into the My Chart in the software. This gives me an actual picture of my own quilt growing. I started with a kinda recolored picture that I printed out. I have it hanging on the wall and with every block...I give it a look, then go to MY Chart to see what the block will touch...if I have any of those done yet.
