isn't it amazing that just that little bit makes such a big difference in the overall size?

I finally worked it out - many thanks PatriceJ for all your help. I loved doing this block, however I starched madly, measured a lot, and ironed all the way through, the last little corner was tricky as it finally came together, all those cross cut sections! It measured out at 12 1/2 inches, whew! Relief!

I redid my block today and it came out much better.

One the directions where it states 1 - 5 1/4 square of the second star points fabric and 1 - 5 1/4 square of the background fabric made into HST, I cut them at 5 1/2 inches and it worked better for me. I'm not all that great at HST and generally need to cut bigger and square up.

Ok, I'm totally dumb when it comes to abbreviations as I am still new, so here comes the blonde question.... what does HST stand for?
