Whitepine..we are pretty much at the repair persons mercy---I have extended coverage on my computerized machine thru Quality Sewing in Silverdale--covers cleanings all repairs...can have it cleaned one a month if you want...not real cheep but if electronics go out it can be very expensive. My workhorse Brother 1600 on the other hand has no coverage but I keep it clean and oiled and have never had a problem.

Kathryn that is very pretty and so patriotic. I am with you in the math dept.-I am no good at figuring out and always have to rely on my dh to give me final numbers on what I need.

Whitepine- when I take my Bernina in for a maintenance check it always costs me more than 100.00 and that's with nothing wrong with it!!!!!!
Obviously I don't take it yearly as "recommended". I love it though and take good care of it.

Thanks for repair replies, so I guess the repair guy wasn't out of line in what he charged. He said that Brother's have a tendency for the needle to nick the bobbin case and make a burr that the thread catches on. Maybe sewing through multiple layers is doing it. I'll be more careful in the future, for sure.

I added a two inch strip in order to complete the dark diamonds and the pinwheels. Haven't decided whether to bind it in the blue or in a dark. All batiks from 5"squares, except for the background.

Oh, I wish I'd thought of that border! Really nice. I'll try to photograph mine tonight.
