Hi! I am mostly a lurker here.......stumbled across this thread, and I did a happy dance! I have had this book in my collection for YEARS! And now I have the time and desire to tackle this quilt. I have done some needleturn applique in the past, but never on this scale, so wish me luck!
I can't seem to find a good method of transferring the pattern to dark background fabrics. Anyone wish to share their favorite method? I plan on doing mostly needle-turn, and for the pointy pieces will use freezer paper on top of the piece for a guide. I have a lightbox-will that work with black background fabric?
Thank you all for posting your pix-soooo much gogeous inspiration!

Hi jillmc! A light box should work. I have been using the window well enough, a light box should be better!
Thank you to all, I am half way through my blocks and the tips are still available on each block.

Welcome Jillmc. I'm still sitting on 5 blocks completed and trying to get back into it. Having a few time issues going on.
I am doing the 7" blocks and using templates so I don't need to trace my pattern on. I can tack my pieces in place using the pattern on the lightbox with my fabric over it to get the placement.
Hope you enjoy finally getting started on this project.

I love this project and try to finish a block per week!

Just happened on this thread and had to hit the "last" button. 414 pages already. You all will be done with your quilt by the time I read through the thread. I have the book for AOTH but am working on 3 quilts right now. Okay if I tag along and have this all at hand when time comes to actually do AOTH? You all are awesome. I never miss checking the Board first thing in the morning before going to work. Can't wait til I retire so I can read and look at everything.

I finished block 33 yesterday and now I have 3 more blocks to finish. My camera still isn't talking to my computer but I hope to get it repaired this week and then I can start posting pictures again. The blocks seem easier as I near the end or else I have finally gotten the hang of needle turn applique.
