I didn't find M3 all that easy, and in the end, I opted for appliqueing all the central area onto a square of background that I stitched with diagonal seams beforehand.

L 10 was time consuming, and you can see that I did the two vertical borders with extra seams in them, to make those little triangles easier to make. It was either do it this way, or applique them on - still not sure which is /might be best.

So all in all, not the easiest of weeks but in effect, seeing as the following week is a week off, you have two weeks to get these done, don't you?
Well I have sat the best part of tonight trying that ruddy M3 Fireweed Flower. Its a real bummer to do, I thought that I would be the only one with a problem but I feel better now that I am not the only one.
Buts its not going to beat me ha ha ha ha

:XD: :XD:

Elle....good luck with M3...I haven't forgotten it yet! I did the variatioin of the block which I printed out from the software and heres what I learned while doing it. I KNOW you can conquer it...you're GOOD!!!

1. ...I think I FINALLY got the Y seam secret down pat...at least for me....on the first seam, I started stopping about 1/4" BEFORE I get to the inside point of the "Y". Then I position the second seam by folding, rearranging, refolding, and holding my mouth just right until it is 'flat', then I sew that seam, then refold and arrange the first seam again and finish sewing that 1/4" that I left. This works for me...it may not work for anyone else.

2. I have a ton of bulk with all the seams. I removed the paper to try to help it, but I probably should have ironed the seams open...is that what you guys did??

Week 13 is a bummer, if you are new donīt start with this week pelease, it will really put you off think this has been the hardest week so far what do you guys think, please donīt tell me there is another one like this one :-D :XD: Trying to catch up with you guys.

Well I cracked M3, then sat there lurking was L10 WHAT THE HECK is that all about. So many pieces. Well I think I have done around 1/4 of it and its taken at least 2 hours.

Think some of it is going to need a bit of applique somewhere. Give us a clue please. :XD:

That L10 is a so and so, isn't it Elle? I did mine before some of the others, and tackled it a slightly different way. If you look at the pattern in the book, I suspect that its the top and bottom borders that you are contemplating appliqueing. It is possible to piece these if you add a couple of extra seam lines. I drew a horizontal line between the kite shape, and the two triangles that are side by side. The other line I drew was to bisect the kite shape, again horizontally. If you have a close look at that block that some of the others have done, I think they may have done it differently. Does that help?

Thanks Lesley, but my computer still wonīt print pout my patterns, so I am going on what I printed out previously and they consisted of just the small pieces which have got to be cut out either twice, 4 times or 8 times to make the block up. I am not going to give up on it, but it is the hardest block I have ever done. It would have been easier had I been able to print it out and had a go at how you are telling me, however I will have to plod on.

Please tell me there are no more like this one Lesley. LOL

That is definitely one of the harder ones Elle. Give that one a rest, go on to another, easier one, and I will send you something for L10 in the post.
