I use Solvy Magic order it at Home Sew.com Or as I do I get the catalog and order that way.$ 7.00 for 25 sheets, I also found some leave in at www.softexpressions.com It's Ricky Tim's Stable Stuff Poly and you can leave in in cause it molds to the fabric with the quilt so it's ok as well . I believe it's 10.00 for 50 sheets, I like them both and I Hated PP'ing before I found these Papers. Hope it helps, I don't know how to post a link maybe someone else can??? Hope. ;)

Re the parachute skirt fiasco, I did some digging about the artist, and posted some info on her on page 202 of my PDA. It's too long to take up the space in here, and also off topic, so please forgive me for bringing up the subject again. |

Attached you will find a shopping list, the projected block/triangle list, and a list of all blocks and their difficulty level. the projected time frame for the entire project (from 1st block to putting on the binding) is January 2010 to May/June 2011. its roughly set up with 6 weeks of sewing followed by 1 week off. the summer months and the fall/winter holiday season is when we'll be doing easy blocks/triangles and the rest of the months will be more challenging with mixed methods and difficulty levels. the focus of the group will be support, encouragement, and friendship. i'll be working about 2 weeks ahead of the group that way i'll be able to put up tutes for the harder blocks and provide paper piecing order for the people who only have the book. i'm not the best quilter around nor do i know the best method for putting together the blocks - so i hope that everyone will be willing to share their method of putting together the harder blocks so that we can all learn from the experience. please look over the attached documents and let me know what you think - i want everyone to feel comfortable with the project. |
Sorry Emsgranny, I know that Admin and Klue had some issues between them and Klue's posts don't seem to be on the board anymore. I didn't keep the list of things needed on my 'puter, but someone else would have, I'm sure.
From memory, basically you need either the Book, Dear Jane, and/or the software, and the two rulers are very helpful, I wouldn't have wanted to be without them. I believe most are available on ebay, and there must be loads of other suppliers too. I used just less than 15 yards of background fabric, and less than one yard of each fabric in my Trip round the World design (a couple of them were only fat quarters) Others are using up all their scraps. Most of us are using the PP method, some with specially bought paper, but I only used computer printing paper. Then all the usual quilting notions I suppose, and that's about it. |
Thanks Lesley! Good information on your yardage usage. How much yardage do you think you used on your background fabric on the front of the quilt?

deb I bought 3 yards of wide (120in?) Kona natural for my backing fabric in addition to what went in the front - it's slightly different to the front Kona cotton too - feels finer. I also bought 2 yards for all the corner stones and binding, but probably have almost a yard left over, so you could definitely get away with 1 1/2 yards for that. I cut the first diagonal so that I could get proper bias binding, then cut the cornerstones from that triangle I had cut away. My binding is double, on the bias, and I cut it 1 3/4in wide. Hope that helps. |
emsgranny....I emailed you all the information ( I think)...let me know if you don't get it or have a problem with it.
Oh and did I forget to tell ya'll that I got ALL the paper pulled off of the blocks up to the current week. Now I'm just pulling it as I go...so I'm seriously trying to decide whether to go ahead with the quilt method of Lesley's or try to figure out how to do it with a back on it. I don't think that we have enough blocks in a specific section though to get started that way. Hmmm...decisions...decisions... |

No Patti, there are not enough blocks on any of the lines cross ways or down ways. Thats why I decided to try and do Lesley´s method, a bit more sewing together, but Lesley´s turned out so beautiful its not going to be a problem I hope, as long as I am as good as she has is with the sewing |

Thanks Lesley, I honestly haven´t looked at DJ for 2 weeks now as I have been doing my Fan quilt and an IRR that I am in.
I will get back to it though sooner rather than later. Elle |
Yes I am getting behind too Butterfly,I had to stop and hand quilt one that I had committed to earlier. Am so anxious to get back in the groove with my Baby
|
Glad I am not alone, only I sort of get a mental block until I get started with DJ. think its such a huge undertaking this one that I baulk at starting again.
I will I promise I will LOL |

Oh Elle...you just needed to catch up, then when you did...of course you deserved a "break" to work on that lovely fan quilt and of course the IRR. I'm caught back up myself, and am waiting for 2 more IRR's to come through...then I'll only have "my" projects. While I'm waiting..I'm going to stack up some more Jane blocks.
Lesley...I was thinking that I really need to do it your way with the back all in one piece because I'm not sure I bought enough of the backing fabric otherwise. Yours did turn out lovely and I KNOW that I'm not nearly as good as you...but well...we'll see.. |

Thank you Lesley. Its just that I haven't been sewing all that long. Mom taught me when I was in the 3rd grade, but that lasted all of about 6 months. Then until 2006....I couldn't even thread the machine! I hemmed stuff with a stapler or duc tape

No Patti, haven´t even started week 31 yet so you have run ahead of me this time. I have a free day today so may get going on this after I sew my IRR that is all pinned ready to go.

Awe Lesley I didn´t know you were suffering so much. Fybromalgia is not good. I had while in England but lucky for me the warmth here is good for me and I rarely have any pain. In the winter it bothers me but not as much as if I had been in England.
|
Oh geesh....it always looks worse when you write it all down and list all the ailments like that. I'm going to get my eraser to let you get rid of that list Lesley....maybe it will help
I try not to think about it all! |

I try not to think about it all! I count myself lucky that I have found something I love to do that I CAN do - isn't that great? |
Yup, it sure is great! Good thing your hobby isn't acrobatics!!
|
Lesley have you checked out the IRR. I am busting to know what you think there is a pic of your quilt and I have made a suggestion for the next round. Please go have a look.
