I hve 5 binders with embroidery designs in them, there is just to many for 1

I was going to store it on its side, so they would be flat, but after I jammed so many clear pages in there I discovered they didn't droop at all and I just store it on the shelf with my other files.

Sheree, I would not get one fat binder. Instead get several..one for A-E, F-L, etc...one for triangles. That way, it won't become unmanageble!! Plus you'll have three different binders to peruse when you feel like petting your blocks! :)

LOL That's exactly what I do.... open it up and just flick through the pages sighing in pleasure! Quite disturbing really! PMSL

Can't wait till it's fuller.

yea, they're up on my design wall right now so I can admire them and look at them, pet, rearrange, play!! It's a lot of fun, so much satisfaction in seeing them. I wonder if this is how Jane felt. Wonder how she kept hers while she was doing this?

Well you guys are no fun. :P I was just going to throw all my blocks into a bin and now I think I need to find a more organized way to deal with them. I didn't think far enough ahead and I realize that if I don't figure out a system now I will regret it. There's nothing worse then looking at 225 blocks and wondering where each one should go. It'd be easier to put it off, which means it would become another UFO and I'm determined not to let that happen!

Esqmommy 01-11-2010 09:52 PM

Right Tiff....so organization will be a MUST!!!!!!!!! Plus, it'll make the whole thing more exciting - sharing ideas and all. Are you keeping a diary? I am, and I know BlueChicken is...anyone else?

I'm putting the name of the block, date I made it, a sample of the fabric, the fabric name/manufacturer and anything else I want to write...My DH is duly impressed with that aspect of it. Think he'd be impressed with the piecing, but if you've never made these, you have no clue what it entails...

LOL

I had nightmares of the pile that would exist in a box after a year. Plus, I want to be able to see easily whether I've done a block or not, to back up what I've marked on the schedule.

My journal is pretty much just the date I made the block and any hints (like rearranging the foundation groups, or watching out for bulky seams) that I noticed while making it.

i have mine up on the design wall because fabric selection and color layout is such a big element to my quilt.

i was spending so much time pulling out folders for blocks that surround the block i was working on that i got annoyed.

now everything is just up there to be referred to when needed.

Is anyone using a directional fabric on their Jane?
