Hi Everyone,

Here I am with a photo of the Gift Bag Pillowcase that I have made for this month's project. This was so much fun to make that I can't stop making them & have so far made three, all together. I believe they will make lovely gifts for any occasion. It is so much fun to get such a good head start on the gift giving season. Enjoy & don't forget to post your photo's when you have finished your project too!! Have fun & go daring with your fabric's!!

:D :D :D :D

Ok heres my pillowcase..
I decided i wanted to use flannel since its cold right now.. and well my kiddo just 'wants' everything i make these days anyhow.. I used a soft butterfly flannel with a lil bit of glitter for the body and the same pink flannel for the ruffle ( wasnt pleased with it) and the cuff.. I used regular pink quilting cotton for the drawstring-I used leftover pink binding- worked like a charm.. I do suggest to use the turning tool to turn the 'string'.. and have a nice big safety pin or the thingamabob that will thread the sting thru the cuff of the pillowcase.. AND I surged my edges, cut a few corners..and i like the clean seams of serging.. I like the end result.. and I have one happy lil kiddo too !!

I stuffed two lap quilts and still had plenty of room..

More true to colors... Pic of Flannel Pillowcase and reg quilting cotton for drawstring..
I wanted a 'smooth' pull and didnt think flannel on flannel would allow the drawstring to pull easily..

thanks for looking and THANKS FOR THE TUTE !!!
It was fast fun and easy..

lauriejo 02-01-2014 05:18 PM

Oooooh pretty! I have made lots of pillowcases, but never one like this. Back to the stash.

lynnie 02-01-2014 05:30 PM

Thanks sula bug.
this is an easy project, but for the ones that are a bit more complicated, where can we find instructions and fabric requirements???

Thanks for posting here for all of us to get a jump on whatever we need a cutesy gift.
A BIG thanks.

Luvtoquilt, very cute, I'm not sure which picture colors I like best. both ways are pretty.

gramquilter2 02-02-2014 07:49 AM

Love the cases that have been posted, great job, SulaBug and LovetoQuilt.

Jenniky 02-02-2014 01:23 PM

Yes, Yes loving this months project. Perfect idea for a present for my grandson... He asked if I would make him an Adventure Time theme Pillow... I think I will be doing a bit of applique on the pillow so will take me a bit longer to make but that's a great challenge for me.

Anael 02-02-2014 02:11 PM

Lovely cases! No requests here but I'm going to make one for myself :D

Sulabug, I posted my pics in the discussion section. Please remove that post, if possible.
Everyone's pillowcases are cute. I like the idea of using flannel.

Here are mine.
I made mine from 5-pack fat quarter bundle from WM. I used 2 different fabrics for the front and back(forgot to take a pic of the back). I made the ruffle longer. If I did another case, I would make the drawstring longer. I had to join pieces and it came out a bit short.
Pics look a bit washed out. Camera battery must be low.

Thanks for the great February project.

Hey Everyone..................where are the rest of you ladies, with pictures of the Gift Bag Pillowcases that you are making. I can hardly stand the suspense of waiting to see more pictures!! :D I have been so excited with the one I made, that I have ventured out & made two mores pillowcases using different pattern's. They are going to make wonderful gifts!!
:D :D :D :D

Jenniky 02-09-2014 06:37 AM

I'm working diligently on mine. Didn't want to post picture until it was all done. Trying to decide what stitch I want to use on the applique so currently its hanging on my design wall until the light bulb in my head goes on. LOL :D:D

I tried! This is mine as you can see, I started altering, not a big ruffle fan. So that went, then I decided to use my pocket differently. I wanted it this way so I could put my iPhone in it why I napped or a tissue. I have king size pillows so I needed some extra length. I also, decided to do this in a girly color as sometimes I stand a better chance of umm, not loosing it shall we say. I am happy with the results, although not like the others. That is me in a nutshell.

lawsonmugs 02-09-2014 05:24 PM

Very pretty deedum. I think the idea is to make it how ever you feel. Like last months fabric boxes. So many different takes on the same idea. I love it.

tapper 02-09-2014 05:55 PM

deedum. love the case!

Thanks, I may take to make another one when time permits. It is just how I felt making it at the time, much like my quilts. I am truly a free spirit on these things. I must say I do like to see variations as well. Love the eye candy.

deedum 02-09-2014 06:42 PM

thanks tapper. I am anxious to see some others pictures of what they make too.

Deedum.............WOW, your Gift Bag Pillowcase turned out wonderful & I especially love how you changed it, a little bit, to fit your needs. That's part of what's so wonderful about making these projects, we can all make little changes to fit our own needs. If you don't mind, I would like to use your idea to make one for my Mother. She is always losing her Kleenex in bed & this would be perfect for her. I know she'll love it. Thank you for sharing.
:D :D :D :D

deedum 02-10-2014 04:54 AM

SulaBug,
Thanks, It just worked for me. I must admit I do like the pocket. Sometimes you just need a Kleenex or whatever. I am sure yr mom will like it. Be sure and post a pic so we can all see :)

gramquilter2 02-10-2014 07:09 AM

sulabug, have you seen the pocket pillowcase on www.justanotherhangup.blogspot.com ? I made quite a few of those for gifts this year, thought I had pictures of them but can't find any. It is another cute and easy case. I embroidered on the pocket and put books in them for 12 grandkids.

lawsonmugs 02-10-2014 09:32 AM

Sulabug your cases are so pretty. I love blue and yellow together. One of these days I need to make something with those colors. I like the blocks you put on the ends. Mary

Finished my Quilt Pillowcase today. I made it to match a quilt that I had made several years ago so if I ever give it away it has a case to put it in. A quick, nice project of the month. Thanks SulaBug.

OMGoodness gramquilter2, your Gift Bag Pillowcase turned out so lovely & I am thrilled that you are using it to put a matching quit in. Of all of the idea's, I have to say that I am most pleased with the matching quilt idea. Although I know that my granddaughter will use her's for an overnight bag, but that's okay too!! Keep the pictures coming everyone as it is so exciting getting to see the next one made.
:D :D :D :D

lawsonmugs 02-10-2014 03:37 PM

Gramquilter how pretty your case is. Can we see a picture of the quilt too?

deedum 02-10-2014 04:04 PM

That is beautiful gramquilter2. Now you make me want to make another one.
