Hi Everyone...........here is a picture of the block that I have put together for the month of March. You will notice that I chose to make the leaves of the clover in one piece, so I could showcase my beautiful Batik fabric. This fabric is one of my very favorite Batiks & I love it!! :D Get you machines started & get to sewing on your new block for the month of March.

Beautiful blocks, ladies! Linda C, I love the many shades of green you've used, especially since you're from Ireland where shades of green is one of the things it's known for.

Sulabug, I love batiks, the colors are fabulous. I also love the embroidery and the date. So many ways to go with this one.

neeng 03-01-2012 05:58 AM

Cheryl and Linda, I love both your blocks!!

Linda, I love that you added shades of browns and yellow to your shamrock, brings out a feel of a a field of clover and adds dimension. Very lovely!

Great blocks so far. Here is my version of the Shamrock.

Deecee 03-01-2012 12:20 PM

Great fabrics so far.

Not sure if I want to use different greens or take advantage of my focus fabric and do the sections in one piece like Sulabug's. Still thinking on that.

Hey everyone.. Im very happy with the results of making the March square, however Im not happy with the picture my camera took..darn flash messed it up. :(

I followed the pattern with the exceptions of making 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 log cabin squares for the leaf blocks. The stem block I was forced to paper piece because I didn't have enough material to make the cuts the pattern called for. I used one inch strips to make the log cabin blocks an I set my need all the way to the right to sew the one inch strips together.
The square measures 11.5 X 11.5 So I am trying to decide what fabric to frame it with to bring it to the 12.5 X 12.5 finished block. Now to go back and work on Jan and Feb blocks. I totally messed up Jan and have to redo it. Feb needs to be expanded to the finishing block size.

I haven't decided but I am thinking to try and hand quilt as I go each block and then join them. So once I get Jan and Feb caught up I think I will make my decision and start on the quilting of the blocks made so far. Will check back in to ooh and ahh everyones blocks as they are posted this month. :) :) :)

I thought I had added this thread to my email, but guess I didn't click everything. I love the blocks, as usual. Here it is only the first of the month, and I'm ready for April. I'm on another BOM but I think I'm going to make this block for that one too. And when I figure my embroider machine out, I'll add a little embelishments to some of my blocks. Since I'm making them for my granddaughters, I want to make two different blocks each month, but since we are part Irish, this is a good block to duplicate. So here is my March block.

Cool ... Love the batiks

I sat down this evening to get this fun and cute block done. I'm also doing the 50 Fabulous State Stars BOM, which I'm way behind in completing. So, I figured I would get this one done tonight so that I don't forget to do it this month while playing catch up with the other BOM.
