SuzieSew, you got them right. I have them all saved now and I an put this on my list for next week. Thanks a bundle!
Thanks, Suzi, I keep forgetting to keep them as I post a new set of directions.

Angela, your quilt is beautiful and all your points are perfect. I wish I could get mine like that!. I really liked how this one turned out too and as I working on getting rid of HEAPS of scraps, I have started on another, only queensize this time for a Christmas present. I just have to buy 6 yards background, based on 1 1/2 yds for lap size. I've so far done 36 medallions for the centres. Starting on the snowballs this week.
way to go, m-fay, can't wait to see your quilts.
But you may need a bit more than 6 yards, I remember I bought 6 for a queen, and don't remember how much more I had to buy. It wasn't much but 6 didn't do it. I guess what I am suggesting, is don't buy your backing until the top is done! I just check my cheat sheet I had found someplace and they said 7-1/2 yards, but that seems excessive. But then, some people make a more generous queen than others. |
Mine took about 7.5 yards for the background and binding. It finished at 78x90. I bought all that was left on the bolt and know it was right around that, maybe a bit more. I have a very small scrap left over. I figured what I needed for the binding and then figured out what the max I could make my borders, and went with that.
Thanks judy & macybaby. I'll get 8 yards to be sure and mores better than not enough. Only 4 1/2 weeks till spring, this year has gone so fast!
Angelina Great job. Want to do #20 .

m-fay, that's a very nice color palette. It looks so calm.
Love those blocks.

Slightly confused. I read different dates and then go back to where it said it all starts in Sept., next month.
If that correct? I realize we do this on our own. However, after the Sat. morn. update, do we ever reveal what we have done, are doing, ect? This is my first time, so excuse me for being confused. Mariah |
I may be wrong, but this thread was for #19, which I believe has finished. Next one would be #20, don't know when that starts.
If you can look back to post #492 in this thread you will see she plans to start #20 in mid-September. She usually opens a new thread about a week before so we can get ready!!! Hope this helps, Mariah.
Mariah Some people finish later that others but still want to show how theirs turned out so post a pic on here. I keep checking till the new one starts. I'm redoing it This one and will post pics as I finish a section. I still have to finish a border on #19.

Judy, what would you suggest for a 6inch border...the blue background fabric, light scrappy, or dark scrappy. Would love a 2nd opinion

Simply stunning.
m-fay that's beautiful. I agree a narrow dark border with a wider blue one. Just to frame your work, not draw your eye away from it.
Just a thought, m-fay. I really like the brown carpet the quilt is laying on. Any chance you would consider just a narrow binding of that medium rusty brown that picks up the colors in the quilt. Of course this may be all wrong because of colors, photos and how postings change our photos.
Perhaps a narrow sashing of the background color then the brown binding. |
I agree! I hadnt noticed that. I've played around with it today and I think a half inch border to separate the pattern and the wildmills from the border, then a scrappy 1 and half dark strip using same fabrics from the lattice, then 4inches blue, and I will mitre the corners. Thank you all so much for your suggestions, a bit from here and a bit from there and I think I've found the way.
M-fay- does it need a border for size? I love it the way it is.
yes it does susie. I will post another pic when its done
m-fay: Very pretty!
