I am using this book for a local scrappy block of the month project. Let me say that I think this is the way to go for complicated star piecing. I would start with a less complicated Carol Doak project if you have never paper pieced before. I completed my first block yesterday and it was challenging, am very happy with the results. It requires a lot of concentration. Do follow Carol's instructions to the letter and purchasing the supplemental disc will make the project faster. I had a problem ordering it, my fault, called her for help and completed the purchase. She is so nice and helpful, was excited to actually talk to her.

I'd also recommend watching the CD that comes with the book.
She did a number of things to insure the 8 pieces align nicely. laurlyn, we've only shown two blocks so far so you are caught up plus one! Welcome! |
Wow!! Such pretty blocks ladies!! Think I need to go find my book~~ :)

question
:) Question, I got my book and a piece of red floral with yellow roses and black for larger pieces. Can I use a jelly roll for the other pieces? Does anyonwe think that would work?
|
It would depend on the size of the piece required. The side pieces are 3-3/4" and 4-3/4" squares. So far most of the other pieces are 1-1/2" to 3" x 2-1/2" x 4.
