Andrea, lovely block - nice work!

Okay everyone, here is my block #11. Now don't get too upset with me because I didn't make the lilypad (that's what I'm calling it anyway ;) ). I mentioned in another post that I liked the open/lacy look of most of the blocks so I wanted to keep that look with the "lilypad" blocks. :oops: :oops:

I think I made some improvements in my skills on this block, and I'm hoping they continue to improve as I go along. I'm ready to start on the next block, but I must say that I'm so afraid to do that reverse applique to make that skinny ribbon!!! :shock: :shock: Lesley mentioned that if anyone is making the 7" blocks, they might want to widen it a bit. Well, that's exactly what I'm going to do!!! I just don't think there is enough fabric to turn under -- at least not at my level of skill! These 7" blocks are pretty small, but it's good practice to hone my applique skills! At least that's what I keep telling myself!!!! :lol: :lol:

Very pretty Patty - no quilt police here, and no one to tell you that you have to put that extra background fabric in.

Thank goodness, Lesley!! I was afraid I would have to go into the quilter's protection program (a branch of the witness protection program)!! :shock: :shock:

They are gorgeous and if anything they look better than the original. When you are doing that reverse applique, just cut a small 3" section at a time, sew one side and then the other, then cut again

I like the block without the lily pad. Great job!

I think your block is lovely without the lilypad.

If I hadn't already stitched mine down, I might have used your idea myself.

I've been reviewing how to do reverse applique, and I think I will be able to do it without too many problems. My only concern is that the "ribbon" on the block is so-o-o-o skinny!! If I cut exactly between the lines as they are drawn, I don't think there will be enough fabric to tuck under, and it will fray. :shock: I'm going to follow Lesley's tip and cut the "ribbon" wider than it is drawn on the block so I will have more fabric for the needleturn. ;) Wish me luck!! 8-)

You´ll be fine. It really is not as hard as you think and like you say if you cut it a bit wider you will be fine.

I cut mine right nto the point and then when I got to the point I did a couple of stitched to hold that bit in place.
