Thanks for your lovely comments

Leslie, Judy, Donna and Elle

Your blocks are all beautiful. (Hope I didn't leave anyone out). I spent most of today putting on the little tulip outer petals and just pulled them all off as they didn't fit like I wanted them to AND I did a really stupid thing when tracing my pieces and used ink! Dumb, dumb dumb....I guess that wouldn't matter if my turn under was totally under, but it wasnt and you could see the ink line on some of the petals. So, I've re ironed the pieces and I'll try again tomorrow.

Jane--I don't think I've seen any of your work before---It is so perfect from color selection down to your stitching . Thanks for the tip on your method.

lizzy 06-24-2011 08:17 AM

Love both colorations ofyour block.

Here's mine...I was on vacation last week and had planned to do all the embroidery on my finished 18 blocks. It didn't happen! Finished this one today.

Very pretty Roxanne - and if you didn't get all the embroidery done, you must have been enjoying yourself.

Butterflyspain 06-28-2011 02:10 PM

Lovely block Roxanne, really pretty and I love your colours.

The embroidery goes fairly quickly, it won´t take you long.

ann clare 06-28-2011 02:33 PM

Missed you Roxanne. Beautiful block.

Yes, I had a wonderful time and didn't miss sewing at all (NOT)

sandpat 06-28-2011 05:06 PM

Doesn't really matter Rox....its lovely to see it now! Beautiful. Glad you had fun on your trip.

lisamortell 06-29-2011 07:10 AM

Roxanne i love the colors!!!

Mousie 06-29-2011 03:00 PM

wow...you've given us a whole lot of yum-yums, roxanne!

Is it just me...I'm so slow at the embroidering, bc I am afraid of rubbing off my chalk outline.
Maybe I should mark a quarter or half and sew, and then mark the other side and sew, and I wouldn't be so afraid to scrunch it up.

I don't seem to have near the problems with the tracing rubbing off while doing the embroidery as I do when doing the applique.

sandpat 06-29-2011 04:47 PM

Mousie....I ran across a Frixom (sp?) pen the other day. You erase it with heat. You could try one of those. Its made by Pilot. (The funny thing is that after you heat it and make it go away, if you put it in the freezer...it will come back!) They are cool to use to mark with though. It wouldn't come off when you scrunch it up.

Deecee 06-29-2011 11:15 PM

My Sewline white pencil doesn't come off Mousie - and I scrunch.

I use the sewline white pencil too and i also scrunh. Mine stays on i have to rub it off when i'm done. I also use the regular pincil color too when i have fabrics that i can't see the white on and i have a really hard time getting it off. Dose anyone have a secrett for getting that one off.

LOL...where do I get one of those, patti?
just asking...but you know me...
LOL,...I'll be sure and keep meeceself out of the freezer!
course, taking a quilt in there isn't a 'bad' idea...but I'm not big enough to open the door back up...
mousie! - your talking out loud again!

I have a bohin. I do love it, but maybe it's me...
I have been struggling with sinus infection/headaches and the lines are not gone, just hard to see
doc says I may have to go to an ENT and she's an internist!
whatever it takes
I sure don't like it when stuff messes with my quilting.

Yes

Lacelady 06-30-2011 01:58 PM

I have used my Sewline throughout this quilt, either with the yellow or white 'leads'. I found the lines fade a bit with scrunching in the hand, but I just went over them again if I needed to. I have a Sewline eraser to get rid if them if I draw a line in the wrong place, but mostly I just cover the lines either with the applique or the embroidery.

With all the leads I have, which includes the grey, I draw as lightly as I can and still see what I want to. If you press harder, it will be harder to remove.

sandpat 06-30-2011 04:49 PM

I'm not sure there is really a way to remove the lead from a regular lead pencil. I will sometimes use that when I'm going to cover it with the applique piece. But if any shows...it will show forever for me. You can try the eraser, but I've never been successful with it.

Mousie, you can buy the Frixions at Office Depot, I know. Maybe even some other office supply stores. And I've seen them at my local Sew'n'Vac where they sell fabrics. I have black, blue and red ones. One caution with them - test them on each fabric before you use them: sometimes when you iron them, there's a white line where you marked it that doesn't come out if you've used them on darker fabrics. I always use them for light fabrics and on the backs of fabrics (like marking blocks for half-square triangles). I love that when you iron it, the marks go away. I don't plan on putting my fabric in the freezer and doubt that any of my quilts will end up in Antartica, so I don't worry about that part of it. I for one love these pens.

Mousie 07-02-2011 11:19 AM

thanks everybody for the pen info.
Mine is "set" with heat, - permanently.
The Frixon removes with heat, but not always permanently.
oh my...I guess I will remark when necessary like Lace does.

I was referring to the Grey Sewline 'lead', and it will very nearly come out of white or cream, using the eraser that Sewline also sells for these specific leads.

sandpat 07-02-2011 04:34 PM

Oh...sorry Mousie...I probably paid a premium for mine as I picked it up at the check out at my LQS...

Butterflyspain 07-03-2011 01:39 AM

Just to let you all know, having problems here. Managed to toss my mouse in the air last night, landed on the marble floor and broke it, so I am mouseless. This internet connection is c**p so see you all tomorrow when I get myself sorted out, pass the message on to all my friends.

Thanks miss you all already.
Elle x

sandpat 07-03-2011 04:05 AM

Oh Elle....juggling meeces again????? Oh no! You knew that eventually one would try a flying escape! I'm so sorry!

topaz-spain 07-03-2011 05:14 AM

Yes Elle apparently there are problems getting into the microsoft site. According to the tech support at Antequera, over 1 week ago, they are working on it! Frustrating though! Hi Ladies hope you are all enjoying your day. Topaz-Spain

Butterflyspain 07-04-2011 02:43 AM

I am not miceless anymore, thank goodness for that. My mouse was like a bar of soap it flew into the air and landed on my unforgiving marble floor.

Thank goodnesss I can talk to you all again, I feel so cut off. One thing though I finished a whole block and started another, guess I am a chatterboc on here. :-D

Mousie 07-04-2011 04:23 AM

elle, maybe you need 3 sides on your mousepad...kind of like mine (in PDA's)...ok, so it has four sides, but it has a front door.
That is where your arm would go.
gee, that gives me an uneasy visual, lol...of a human arm coming in my front door!

Butterflyspain 07-04-2011 05:29 AM
