I had fun with a bleach pen with this one - it worked very quickly, so I advise doing one at a time so you can wash the bleach off the moment you want it to stop working. I found out by googling that you can reverse the possible damage by bleach (long term) by treating with Hydrogen Peroxide.
Anyway, I thought the bleaching looked a bit fuzzy, so I then added in some green permanent marker for a bit more fun |
Wow, that's cool! So pretty!
I'm still looking for that darn bleach pen. I keep forgetting when I get to Wally's and I'm sure they have it. I just love your newest trick!
what a great idea to use the bleach pen!
Not mine, I'm afraid, a quilty friend got some from Amazon because we couldn't find anything like that here. She went searching for them after I bleached some flowers on another block with just thickened domestic bleach and a fine artists brush. I had more control using those than with this pen, but it was really quick, so I'm not grumbling,
Love it! I did a similar thing with coloured cardstock, back when I was passionate about cardmaking. Now my passion has turned to quilting - BIG TIME!!
Love what you did to this one, its looks really good
I'm still looking to do something similar when I get to this one. I love yours.
Fabulous job on this block. That trick with the bleach pen is great.
That is wonderful!! I love it. Looking at you new block has inspired me.

Also, some batiks work better than others, so if your first choice doesn't produce nice results, don't give up, try another one. Best of luck. |
Right...it seems like timing is the key on playing with the bleach. I'll probably try several different things. I also bought a set of markers and some fabric paint, so I'm good to do some experimenting :D:

Maybe not enough to hurt after dunking in the water. So much room for creativity with this technique! yum! |

Great block. Clever use of bleach pen. I would never have thought of doing that.

I have been looking forward to doing this block because I knew it would accommodate my little ships. It’s a very simple block but I really like it.
Another gorgeous block, Lisa. Your ingenuity is astounding. I can't wait to see a bunch of your blocks together.
loving it! has your dh complimented you?
Your doing a fantastic job, my lady...ships and ladies in tall wigs, etc. makes me think of earlier times ;) |
Beautiful block Lisa.
I would love to see a pic of your ship and ladies fabrics. |
Lisa...and oh YES it did!! (accommodate your little ships) I agree with Deecee....I'd love to see a piece of that fabric. You are doing such a beautiful job on your blocks.

Wow - fabulous fabric. Just love the hidden livestock in the hairdo and the co-ordinating fabrics. A wonderful range of colours also. Lots of scope for doing AOTH blocks.
P.S. Patti - that's a cutie funky dawg. |
Lisa, thanks so much for showing us...WOW, just goes to show! I wouldn't have considered that Rococo lady fabric for this project, but you have done amazing things with it. That is a great range you are working with...I have one of those green fabrics, although I'm almost out of it. I've used it on this project!
lisa...10-Q for showing us the fabrics!
Now my horizons are widened for future quilts! I have several prints that I had ideas for but they were boring. Now I can begin to look at them in a whole new way, woo hoo! |

Here's my # 5. Nothing fancy but I do like the little dragon flies and lillies on the outside hearts. It's fabric left over from my 8th quilt which was a fishing theme for my baby brother.
Roxanne another beautiful block.
man, do I love that, rox! :D
Love the dragonflies Rox. You have been very busy working on your blocks haven't you.
Rox...those fabs just pop right off the background! Great job!
