I started out starching the fabric over my templates, but have gone to needleturn now. It sure saves time and the results are just as good.

I am working on this pattern, too but I don't work on it very often. I had a couple hours today so I made block 9. I admire all your hand applique but "hand" is a 4 letter work for applique, in my book. I use the fusable and machine stitching for everything. Here is my block.

Thanks. I used a straight stretch stitch for the embroidery. I can embroidery by hand by I like to use the stitches built into my machine. I use them to embelish where I can.
