Gorgeous, gorgeous stars!

I just cut out all the pieces for mine. Might put the block together either tonight or tomorrow. I ended up getting the same pattern from Quilter's Cache, 'cause I'm more familiar with the way she lays out her patterns. :)

that is where I hit a road block. out of 9 BOM projects only 2 have been quilted.

What is your secret to get to the finished product? Any hints?
Will take all ideas, comments, theroies.

thanks

What is a Quilt-as-you-go? I really need to get these going and together since I now have a new Babylock crown jewel long arm quilting machine. I guess just knowing the machine is waiting for my projects may be enough encentive to finish them up also 1 is for my parents 50th and 1 is for my sisiters 25th both are next year have had the material and blocks all done for mom & dads and the material & pattern for my sisters just havn't made the time to finish them. must prioritze myself. Yeh right, then off on to another tangent

The stars and buildings are my 2nd and 3rd BOM. I did the flowers last year. I have the same question/problem. I haven't done anything with the flowers and am worried I'll do the same with these two. Someone said in another thread that they enjoy the piecing and not the quilting so they just donate their blocks to a group that will finish them and donate to a good cause. I think that's a good plan. But.... I would like to finish them. I think a quilt-as-you-go might work. Also, in December, or earlier, I would like to see people lay out their blocks on the floor if they have a design planned for them.

I have been considering doing this with "quilt-as-you-go" too. I wanted to get a few of the blocks done so I could decide what color back and sashing to use.

Quilt-as-you-go (QAYG) is the technique of taking one block, sandwiching it with the filler and the backing, then quilting the one block. Then you join them together in rows, then join the rows. There are different methods of doing this but I've never done any so I have no opinion or advice. I wouldn't be surprised if there are tutorials on this website. Certainly there are turtorials on the web and many books. I would be glad to hear any pros and cons to the different methods from people who may have tried them.

Alrighty, so I finally put together my April block. I'm not going to lie, it was a bit of a relief to have such an 'easy' block. I still ended up ripping out three seams - but this went together very quickly nonetheless.

I did learn that I can make my points match better if I pin instead of just eyeballing it.

So anyway - here's my Amish star, and then one of my whole collection so far. :)

Originially I intended to have some plain white too - but I ran out!

They all look so beautiful together - you will have a spectacular quilt when they are all done!
