Howdy ya'll!! It's that time and no, this is NOT an April Fools Joke :D

This month's pattern will NOT be paper pieced (pause for celebratory applause.......) OK...so here we go.....

The Houses BOM for April will be the "SPRING BIRDHOUSE" by The Golden Thimble. Here it is:

http://thegoldenthimble.com/springbirdhouse.pdf

I really think this one will be alot of fun and is just in time for Spring! Be sure to read all through the pattern before starting. It is mostly regular pieced with some applique. It is already a 12 1/2 inch block so you shouldn't have to add to it so keep that in mind when planning all your fun "extras".
If you have ANY questions, please let me know and ENJOY!! :D

JudyG 03-31-2011 08:32 PM

What an adorable pattern, Qbee. Thanks for choosing it. I still haven't done March's yet, but hopefully within a week or so I can get caught up.

skydiver70 03-31-2011 09:07 PM

Looks like a winner Qbee. Thanks for having one that's not paper pieced.

Look forward to this one.

Qbee 03-31-2011 09:11 PM

Honestly....I LOVE paper piece and had originally picked a PP pattern but after seeing that that's all we have done so far and some folks were growing tired of it, I looked for an alternative. It worked out GREAT because I like this one even better :D

:D :D :D :D

hobbykat1955 04-01-2011 02:00 AM

Very nice...can't wait to start..

helen31406 04-01-2011 02:16 AM

The Spring Birdhouse is adorable. I was up at 5:45AM to see what the next block would be. I definitely love it. Thanks, QBee for the great block. I adore appliqué!

Carol B. 04-01-2011 02:40 AM

I headed right to the computer to see what the new block would be. I love the block -- I love birdhouses and birds. I am not relieved that it isn't PP because I've never appliqued -- I don't even know if I can piece a regular block!! I'm not complaining-- just looking forward to a new challenge.

marymc 04-01-2011 02:48 AM

What a pretty block! I am glad to see applique because I've been thinking I should try that. I can't wait to see what kind of bird makes his home in the house I create.

mommamac 04-01-2011 03:53 AM

Happy, happy with your choice! Applique will be a new technique for me but it's something I've wanted to attempt. Those little birdies are so cute - this block looks like a fun one.

AgapeStitches 04-01-2011 06:18 AM

Whoo Hooo!!! Looks like lots of fun!

hmmm, Planning and zoning says only human house will work in my quilt neighborhood so I'm going to have to go off on my own and try to paper piece a square that looks like my first house.

I thought about that too, but maybe this one can go in the middle with the others surrounding the block. Although, who knows, by the time we get all the blocks, they might all go together really well.

LOVE THE BLOCK! However, I have to print out instructions (my printer/computer is downstairs and my sewing room is up) and I cannot afford to print so many pages, especially in color, so I rewrote it. Here it is for your use if you like. I also combined pieces "O" with "H" and "N" with "I", seemed easier.

Enjoy!

Thank you Barbara so much! I wasn't looking forward to printing out 8 pages of instructions...my color printer ink is precious!

Zoning here is a possible problem as well...will have to think about it and see if we can fit it into the neighborhood...darned "covenant" rules in a gated community...won't let you do anything will they? LOL!

kreinhart742 04-01-2011 10:12 AM

Oh what a cute block can't wait to get started on it.

I downloaded both and neither one has the bird or roof pieces for applique.

Floralfab 04-01-2011 11:29 AM

Qbee, I love this birdhouse block. Although I have learned a lot about paper piecing here I am glad for a change. Can't wait to get started.

Qbee...this is awesome! Love it.
Although I must say, I am going to try to PP, it is an easy one for that, will see.
I am thinking the birdhouse will be a great addition to my village! After June, I am going to start designing it. Woo hoo! Will try to tackle this next week.

quilter41 04-01-2011 03:20 PM

I dropped out because I don't do PP, but this one is really cute

Millstream Mom 04-01-2011 03:53 PM

What a cute block! I'll have to ponder it for a few days while I try to think of a pleasing color scheme. I'm looking forward to seeing how the other members blocks look!

roseOfsharon 04-01-2011 04:29 PM

This soooooooo adorable! I hope to get caught up! I still have the barn to do! Just love it :)

the one you put on the very first thread would not down load at all.
