Oh I got it now Patrice, it's a reference to Kathy's Chicken in a bowl, I thought it was a phrase that meant the same as being in the dog box or sin bin, (sigh).....it takes me a while to twig nowadays

patricej 09-24-2007 01:28 AM

there are a few running gags and inside jokes here - as there are in any family. you'd have know if you had been "here" when she first switched to that photo for her avatar. it cause a bit of a dustup, believe it or not. one or two people thought the photo was a "threat" to cook the poor chicken. we had to explain that the silly thing insists on sitting in that bowl. Kathy can't plant anything in it as a result.

anybody who comes along now and hears a reference to tim's toe will be in the same boat.

susan s. 09-24-2007 04:54 AM

Is the dog box like being in the dog house? And sin bin another slang for being in trouble? I guess it takes me awhile to twig these days also :-o

Hey Patrice I think I'll have photos by the end of the day if we do not hit any snags. I may need technical assistance if you will be around later. If we can manage to get them into the computer in the first place, downloading to Paradise hopefully will not be to difficult.

Well, I am whittling them down. I only have to find the post for three others after this. I was thankful to have some simple ones like this one in the mix. This went together quickly, had to type the Q work 3 times to get it right, it wants to automaticly go to quilt.

Whew, I'm tired just admiring all your hard work. LOL I can't believe how many of these you just finished. Amazing.

You said you weren't sure they would all go together in the same quilt, but I think it would be so bright and colorful, and just like a wonderful sampler!! Good job on all of them Deb. :)

quilt1932 09-29-2007 02:39 AM

I reall like the color in this block - good work.

Bonita 10-11-2007 12:20 PM

Where did you get the embroidery pattern? Is that machine or hand embroidered? It is very pretty! I'd like to try one like that. I have 2 embroidery machines so could easily complete one like that. Thanks for sharing.

ceannastahr 10-11-2007 06:11 PM

if you were asking about my block it is machined embroidered the design came from emblibrary.com go to flowers & garden then vintage flowers and it is called butterflies and flowers. I buy all my designs from there they always have great sales going on. Right now they have a but one get one till the 16th of Oct.

Bonita 10-11-2007 07:00 PM

Thanks. I've gotten designs from them before.

figured it was about time i did this.

p.s. pretend you believe me when i tell you i put the green wrong side out in the corners on purpose.

kathy 10-12-2007 02:56 AM

well it certainly works as a lighter version of the green, you should not have told us. looks good to me gf

lin 10-12-2007 04:04 AM

I tried pretending, but it didn't work. I've done it too many times myself! LOL I'm loving the fabrics you're using in your blocks. I can't wait to see the whole thing put together.

ceannastahr 10-12-2007 04:38 AM

I just thought it was a differnt green fabric till I read what you said

I was begining to think you were perfect . Your blocks always look so great. Nice to know you mess up like the rest of us. LOL

Yvonne 10-12-2007 07:44 AM

Well, we'll pretend but we all know better! As was said above, 'been there, done that!' There ain't nothin' new!!!
On the other hand look at those seam allowances! Wow! You'll be able to take a quarter inch seam and still have points. That's always been my area of frustration! I'm very impressed!
Great block on the whole! Don't tell anyone about the 'Oopsie'!!!!

Carla P 10-12-2007 09:42 AM

The right side is the side you use, right? :D :D

kathy 10-12-2007 09:45 AM

I agree with you Carla!

patricej 10-12-2007 09:49 AM

left

Carla P 10-12-2007 09:51 AM

WHEW!! For a minute there I thought Patrice was talking about some rules or something...

patricej 10-12-2007 11:06 AM

NEVER!!!

we don't need no stinkin' rules 'round hyar!

Nice Churn Dash blocks. Funny, when I look up this block in EQ5 I got the same block, but it was called Greek Key in one place, and Double Monkey Wrench in another.

Is my EQ screwed up or is this another one of those blocks with many different names?

Carla P 10-12-2007 01:41 PM

The names have been changed to protect ... to make someone some money!! Well, there are actually a couple of differences to the original historical versions I believe, but someone smarter than me will have to tell you what they are. BTW, my EQ did the same thing.

I just finished a memory quilt for my Mom who is retiring. I made the churn dash pattern and had everyone sign in the center block. It is at the quilters now being quilted. I also made a pillow for her. This is the pillow.

ceannastahr 10-15-2007 01:26 PM

I know your mother will love the quilt and pillow I like your choice of colors too

amma 10-15-2007 01:45 PM

Ooooo...that looks like suede. Very, very pretty! :)

Bonita 10-18-2007 09:31 AM

You're right it does look like suede. Good idea having everyone sign it.

I am happy to say that I did this block in a couple of hours instead of one week. Thankfully I can sit and stand longer each day. I am trying to catch up with the blocks, but I am moving to Pa. in December and have to organize my stuff to pack. I have to start early because I am still slow at doing things. Still cnnot bend my knees too good.

I enjoyed doing this block.

You did a really good job on that block jessiesmom! It's so pretty. And I'm really glad you're feeling more up to sewing these days. That's wonderful. :)

amma 10-20-2007 08:53 AM

Very Pretty, I have always liked those colors together :D Good Job :D I am glad that you are feeling up to sewing again, too! :D :D :D

ceannastahr 10-20-2007 10:22 AM

I'm so glad your doing better. Just don't push yourself to much
Your block looks great

jessiesmom 10-21-2007 05:16 AM

Thanks everyone for the compliments and the concern. What is so awful is I am not only going stir crazy, not being able to go out much, but having all this time on my hands and I cannot sew too much.UUGH!!
Very frustrating.

I had a go at making this block with fabric from the Moda Peace on Earth range. I am starting a machine pieced sampler.
