Couldn't wait to make this traditional lovely!

kathy 09-14-2007 09:25 AM

LOL Yvonne, you must've been sitting there with your fabric and rotary cutter in your hand when she posted!
That's gonna be a beautiful quilt, I never thought much about pink but now I realize that it really is pretty. Keep it up.

Yvonne 09-14-2007 09:31 AM

Kathy, I had TWO cups of coffee today!

Country Quilter 09-14-2007 12:14 PM

Well, I belong to a couple other BOM's and I waited all week for the patterns for today to come out so I could spend the day making blocks....this is the only one that got posted today! SO....instead I opted to do a couple other things today but will probably get the other patterns tomorrow so I can spend a day making blocks! Can't wait...churn dash has always been a favorite of mine!!!

Steve 09-14-2007 12:36 PM

OK, so where is my pattern?

Steve...the patterns are always in the MAIN section and we post the photos here in the PICTURES section....if you go to the main section and can't find the topic for Sept 15 BOM....just click on the sticky BOM at the top and if Boo has had a chance she has it listed there also

Steve 09-14-2007 12:51 PM

Will do and thanks Patsy! :D

This is my version. The center is a fussy-cut of vintage-like fabric from another project.

Carla P 09-15-2007 06:47 AM

Oh my goodness!! These are so pretty!!!! I can't wait to see more!!!

Here is my shot. All but one point is pretty good. This was made with an old vintage feedsack that I broke down and chopped up.

Here is mine, I really like this block and think I will try the other variations, I think my loveseat needs a couple of pillows :D

quilt1932 09-16-2007 02:18 AM

Oops! I guess I posted the pics in the wrong place the first time 'round, so here they are again.

Since it isn't my favorite pattern, Leslee said to have fun and change it at will. Following her suggestions, I lengthened the center and ended up with either "Slim Jim" or "Which way did he go?" depending on how you look at it. She mentioned a book that deals with this method if you're interested. :D

Nepthys, beautiful feed sack fabric :D :D :D
Steve, love your interpretation :D :D :D

Steve 09-16-2007 09:44 AM

Thanks amma, it needed something other than the yellow, which shows every seam, but other than that it was fun.

Once again it is neat to see what everyone is coming up with. It's the old saying all over: "Give a hundred quilters the same pattern and not one of them will do it the same way." Very cool...

quilt1932 09-16-2007 10:25 AM

Very interesting block, Steve. I wouldn't have thoguht to change it in that way.

Pam Pollock 09-16-2007 01:28 PM

Very pretty!

mimisharon 09-17-2007 05:43 AM

They are all so beautiful, I cut the strips yesterday while the rag quilt was washing, I can't wait to get to the sewing machine after chat. I'm still embroidering the name block on the rag quilt but will post pic later today.

Interesting Steve, that's really a good change I think.

Feed sack? Real feed sack??? Beautiful!

Nepthys 09-17-2007 06:57 AM

yes, real feed sack. Can even see the seam from the sack when it was sewn. This one did have a piece cut out of it tho. So I didn't feel TOO bad about cutting it some. I do have another feed sack that is whole... it's a white with little yellow flowers in pots all over it. Great stuff. Haven't decided to break down on that one yet :)

Steve 09-19-2007 09:11 AM

Hi ceannastahr, I was just waiting for someone to post a 'Greek Cross' variation of the Churn Dash, though by adding the bugs you've truly made this your own creation. Great Job! :D

Pam

ShellyQ 09-23-2007 01:26 AM

Thanks Guys, it's for my Grandson, he's three, so he'd probably let you have it in exchange for a cake of chocolate LOL  Guess what he calls me ....... Gamaa Choklat  ........Naughty naughty Grandma 4 encouraging bad habits, go sit in the bowl

patricej 09-23-2007 01:59 AM

the bowl is for chickens, Shelly. a Grandma who deliberately corrupts the grandbabies is a very, very brave woman indeed. especially if she spends any amount of time in their company and has to deal with the consequences herself.

Country Quilter 09-23-2007 02:08 AM

Nice blocks! Love the idea of fussy cutting the center.

susan s. 09-23-2007 03:39 AM

They are all lovely blocks and colors. I hope to have some blocks photoed and down-loaded tonight or tomorrow. My step-dad-in-law is coming with his digital camera today. Hopefully I can at least get the photos into this darn machine. I went and got myself a job. So I'll be buying some type of digital camera. I want something nice and very versatile but do not yet know what model will best cover all the bases. Guess I should do some more comparison shopping so I'll be ready. I am designing some blocks of my own. I finished one design but have not sewn it yet. Actually I did design and sew an applique butterfly for my nieces quilt that I'm working on. I'm using several of the BOM's in it also. :D

Carla P 09-23-2007 04:44 AM

These are all so beautiful!! I love the way each one of you has used the pattern to make it your own. You are all so very talented and creative!!!
