I'm in too. I have the book and the software, finished about 25 blocks and a few triangles. I think I can't do 3 blocks a week but I'll give it a try. Working on Sylvia's Bridal too and going to join the Farmer's Wife Pony Club so lots of large projects!

I'm in -- three blocks is about all the time I will be able to give to this project. I really don't care how long it takes. I have some quilts that have taken a lot longer because of handwork. My avatar was started 10 years ago at least. I have almose finished the quilting near the center -- the last place and I wanted tiny close outline stitching.

Sylvia's Bridal sampler is an Elm Creek quilt based on Jennifer Chiaverini books right?? As I recall it also has teeny little squares - although nothing is as complex as 'nearly insane!!' [the blocks are larger - 6" - but a few have around 200 pieces]

I speak Dutch fluently - surprisingly because my dad died in 1967, Mom in 2008, one brother of pancreatic cancer in 2000 and the other one who is 74 doesnt speak Dutch often. My husband is American and two adult kids [and 3 grandsons] wished I had taught them dutch - now I do too - suppose it is never too late. I try to write dutch when communicating with my cousins. They sometimes laugh, but usually are quite proud considering I never had a day of formal Dutch [or otherwise] education. I just think Dutch is spelled pretty much the way it sounds while the English language has so many silent letters and diphthongs.

I have one cousin in Deventer - used to live in Groningen, a cousin in Eindhoven, a couple near Leidschendam and Rotterdam and distant relatives around Nijmegen. My Dad was one of 17 [who rarely spoke to each other - surname Ruivenkamp] so I'm sure I have many relatives I dont know at all.

Oh dear, my MIL had 14 children and miscarried 3 times. Can't imagine what that must have been like!

It's never too late when you really want to learn something. I just started learning French. I learned it in highschool but that was 45 years ago and mostly writing. We hardly practiced speaking. You're right about Dutch spelling, but you don't want to know how many Dutch people don't know how to write proper Dutch :(

I have relatives all over The Netherlands but we never speak to each other, don't ask why as I don't know.

I should be sleeping by now, it's 2 am here LOL.
