Could not wait so heres my first easy blocks.
The next ones I will need instructions for. |
If you change the block size to 6" do you need to also change the size of the triangles?

I have been getting some tri's planned out and - take Top Row One for instance - from looking at the pattern on page 127, do you add a border? because as I look at it when you join it to the next triangle - you would lose part of the strips. Top Row Two - next to one on the same page does have added strips ! Hope you can see what I mean - any advice please?

the triangles in the original size are 5" wide by 8" long unfinished so if you are making your blocks 6" i would think you would need to change the size of the tris or atlleast add a sashing around them to bring it up to size. |
ok...typed a response while on another page...ctrl c...to make sure it carried over - but I lost it :( guess QuiltnNan answered the tri question?? I thought it was a simple case of forgetting the middle plain fabric tri [don't have picture to look at right now...]
Rose Marie - your blocks are great!! to figure triangle size when you change size of blocks - a little math required... determine % increase = 4.5=100% --> [6.0 x 100]/4.5 = 600/4.5 =133% easiest thing to do is to take a picture of the actual size triangle to copier and setting the 'enlargement' size to 133% the size will change from 5x8 to 6 2/3 x 10 2/3 from responses I have gotten as to "chat time" I'm going to leave it at 7:30-8:30 Tuesday a.m. Pacific time. If at any time anyone feels the need to chat - they can indicate on the thread or PM and we will work something out. I will post in first thread this weekend. Gus have a GREAT day!! |

For those struggling with the software: I just wanted to share that I found a used copy of the DJ book; no software was included. But I'm doing fine with just the book plus the blog, "thatquilt.blogspot.com". I trace the pattern from the book onto freezer paper, then cut out the freezer paper, iron onto the fabric and cut, adding a 1/4" seam allowance. Then I follow the instructions from the blog for sewing them together.
