It's a very pretty block! I like how you fussy cut the dark triangles.

jaba 12-01-2013 08:07 AM

Very nice, just happened to look to see if the new block was posted yet and yippee it was! Right on time mamahen, thank you so much.

Got mine done today! Loved this block, MamaHen, I could even do that little bit of paper piecing. By chance does anyone have the software to make this an 18 1/2" block??? I've looked online and can't find it but would sure love to have it for the center of a quilt. I would gladly trade whatever? or pay you if you can do this. Just wondering.....here's my block and all 12 for this year.

Jaba, love how your purple star points show so lovely.

noahscats7 12-01-2013 05:06 PM

SOoooooo,,,,,,,pretty.

mimiknoxtaylor 12-01-2013 05:24 PM

Jaba, Those are lovely. Your Dec. block came out great. Can you or Mamahen tell the rest of us what you did to use the 3 colors as opposed to only the 2 as the pattern calls for.
I'm still not finished with November but it is in the process of being assembled.

jaba 12-01-2013 05:31 PM

Keep looking at the blocks on the design wall and can't make up my mind what to sash the blocks with. Then have to come up with a creative border and blend it all together. Want to get it done so I'm ready for the New Year. Gees, we are starting again in January aren't we????

zozee 12-01-2013 05:44 PM

Stunning! That fleur-de-lis print is so eye-catching.

jaba 12-01-2013 05:48 PM

mimi- I didn't do anything special, just want my 3 main colors in it so cut it out this way. Piece by piece....:D

Jaba,

I'm giving this a try, never posted a pdf before.

This is for the four middle blocks. The grid lines should print at 1/4 inch for the dimensions to be proper.

If this doesn't work send me your email.

Dedemac

jaba 12-01-2013 06:43 PM

Thank you so much for sending this to me, appreciate it a bunch!

Nothing special in choosing colors, I used 4 colors, just break it down into pieces & let your color choices go. I can see where even 5 fabric colors would work.

djmat 12-01-2013 11:04 PM

Love both of your blocks! Can hardly wait to see everyone's 12+ blocks ready to make into quilt tops!

jaba 12-02-2013 07:59 AM

I've been putting different colored strips on the design wall, trying to decide on sashing for the blocks. I want them to pop right out, kind of the "stand up and be seen" factor. Anyone have some suggestions for me to try??? I must be way over thinking this, need some help her please.

Finished the final block. Now hopefully I'll get a chance to start getting it together. I'm doing a quilt as you go, but I only have about 4 quilted. But I really am looking forward to the finished product so once I get started I won't quit until I'm done.

LOVE it! Haven't looked at my fabrics yet...too much company and now I'm playing with my little grand doggie for the day! She's a pug and loves to sit on the foot pedal of my machine, so I don't do alot of stitching while she's visiting.

Mousie 12-02-2013 09:18 PM

just had to say how lovely these all are so I could follow this thread! :)

This is the thread for the pictures of finished blocks. The link is the thread labeled "December block of the month". Sorry but I forgot to add pattern & instructions to the header.

Very pretty block MamaHen. I love how you centered the print on the dark triangles.

Jaba your quilt is very pretty. I like how you placed the blocks, with the two with the largest background centered.

CAS49OR 12-03-2013 09:26 AM

This is pretty, I love the crisp modern look of it. I would like to make mine "QAYG" but I'm wondering how since there is not much border to work with?

Very pretty....

fmhall2 12-03-2013 11:58 AM

Jaba, there are 6 divisions in it, so just make each division 3 inches square. That shouldn't be too hard to draft. Good luck, it should turn out beautiful, as pretty as your BOM quilt.

jaba 12-03-2013 12:52 PM

dedemac sent it to me. She has a program to enlarge it so am going to try it 1st with just some muslin and make sure it sews to the right size before I cut into my metalics. Better safe than sorry. Just haven't had time yet.....last night we had a snow storm from h---. Power on and off at least 7 times then just off. Took all the memory out of my wireless printer and fax so have been trouble shooting that all morning and just finally had to do the uninstall and install everything again. What a pain, almost 2 p.m. here and I haven't even made the bed. I better get busy fast.

djmat 12-03-2013 02:05 PM

klgreene, wonderful green & black block, way to go!

Yay! I did it! ;) It took me hours to re-sew the seams and try to make the points match up. I'm taking the fun out of it by worrying too much. I might put this quilt in my living room so I want it to be as good as possible. Does anyone have advice on how to QAYG these particular blocks? The blocks are not all the same sizes and some don't seem to even have 1/4" along the edges to join to other fabric without losing the design.

I'll probably put sashing in, but may have to buy some fabric that will contrast with all the black. I guess I'll lay them all out and go from there.

Here's my blocks for the year. I'm thinking about putting black sashing around all the blocks and then sizing them, and then deciding whether to put another color between or what. I'm also deciding if I should embroider or applique some designs around the heart and pinwheel since they have so much blank space. I may do QAYG too.

I need to design how to quilt them too, like what design. I bought a new embroidery machine, but I don't know how to use it. If anyone has one, can I put the blocks in there and embroider them?

I appreciate any suggestions and help!

Is there a Block of the Month 2013 Pictures thread? I found the invite thread but not one for finished quilts. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you all do with your pretty blocks!

Thank you so much CAS. I think I will put it together for my grand daughter. I think she would love it. Also, your December bock turned out so pretty & I love all of your block's put together. Do you have someone designated to make your quilt for? These BOM projects are always so fun to do. Thank you for sharing your work with all of us here on the Quiting Board.
