Personally, I skipped "A Beauty". I found the Y seams hard and I am very comfortable with paper piecing. There are so many of those kind of blocks to do, that I figure if I need more for whatever I decide to make with these, I can always double up on one. This is FUN so why frustrate myself?....LOL!

Hacked computer

Hi guys, Sorry to tell you that my computer has been hacked and until further notice you will have to hold the fort down. My sister is writing this for me and not to worry her pc is safe. Please do not send me any emails or PM's. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Honchey

PS. The ladies that have my phone number can call me if something comes up. I cannot contact anyone because all your phone numbers are in the PC. You can email me, Carolyn and give me your phone numbers and I will give them to Honchey. Please put down QUILTING as I will delete you if I do not see QUILTING on the email. Have a nice evening.....Carolyn

You can use the English PPing for any block... Print out the line diagram and color it with crayons to make sure you're sewing the pieces correctly...I'm going to use EPP for several of the blocks that have alot of the inset/y seams. It will take more time to do because of cutting out the many template pieces. You cannot use the line diagram. it prints out close to 1/8 of an inch too small and every time I adjust my printer to a bigger size it defaults to 100 % and even if it came out correct ...cutting out the pieces...some will be bigger and some will be smaller....I'm fussy when it comes to correct sizes. I'm going to start making some templates for the blocks that don't have the foundation papers. I save the cards from magazines that are attached inside and some that actually fall out... measure the templates after printing them out to the chart given for rotary cutting to see if they are the correct size...This first block is going to be fun!!!

Thanks!
I also save the magazine insert cards, and I am going to start making templates as well. If you don't mind, can I ask another question? How do you color your line diagram? Do you outline the lines in a specific color and match the template, or do you color in the whole template?

I asked Laurie a question on the Yahoo site about re-using the templates I had made for the FWS Quilt. I thought maybe a conversion of some type. She said she thought about that also, but that these were too different. She mentioned that she just printed off the templates for each block on card stock and that she found that worked really well. I think I will do that too (I happen to have a ream of card stock fortunately).

A lot of medical offices are changing over to Electronic Medical Records so they are getting rid of their file folders. These are a great weight to make templates. I print the templates out then glue the whole page to a folder and then just cut out the templates. They hold up to rotary cutting if you're really careful but I just trace around them and cut them out with scissors. Can you tell I learned to quilt a loooooong time ago?
If you know anyone who works in a medical office, you could ask them to save their old file folders for you. They just cut the name off and throw them in a box for me; of course, it helps that I work there every once in awhile but I bet they'd save them for you if you asked. Just a thought.

I just got the book today and the blocks look challenging but they will make a beautiful quilt. I have several things in the works but I'm going to try to keep up with the "herd of sewing ponies". Thanks for the opportunity.
