For squaring up, I have a square ruler like this one:
http://www.amazon.com/1071798-Square...1892200&sr=8-1 I bought a bunch of see through square rulers back when I was doing Dear Jane. Thought they'd come in handy some day. |
Hi Pookie. I must have 30 rulers all sorts. for some reason or other I end up with a little piece of cardboard that I can hold in my hand. I find it thinner and easier to manipulate then the hard acrylic. anne

After blocks # 5-8, I will more than likely be a slacker with school starting. Anyway, 5-8 are done and waiting to be shown. Now to bed-school tom.

Do you have a picture of the square you refer to? I also have several acrylic rulers, all of which I use and really like, but I haven't found a good "squaring up" tool so any suggestions are appreciated. Thank to all of you for your suggestions.

I think I might "cheat" with my square up block. I can't go out to get another ruler right now, but have grided template plastic that I think I will just cut down to the size I need. Do you guys think that would work?

I'm generally a piece making quilter so using templates is different for me and I'm finding I really enjoy it. It takes more time to quilt via template but I'm discovering I'm much more accurate this way.
I'm going to try the paper-piecing method during this journey also. Every opportunity to learn something new should be taken! |
PJL I'm using templates and enjoying quilting this way also. My blocks are coming out more accurate. When I first started quilting (many moons ago) I learned using templates. As for paper piecing, never done it; want to try but since templates are working I'll stick with that method. Good luck with paper piecing.

I am in the slacker club this week
Well not totally I have the blocks done but I have not put the handle on the basket. I keep procrastinating on that. Hmmm wonder why lolol I will get pictures up before tomorrow with or with out the handle. I told myself I would not be a slacker in the project and now only the second week in and I am opening the door tot he club Hey you slacker ladies push me out dont let me enter All you over achievers pull me back |
A piece of cardboard and your blocks come out perfect. I'm buying all kinds of gadgets, and I still have a hard time. But, its getting better. I just love those who can manufacture their own gadgets - that work!
