Omak, I'm really glad you understand. I want my quilt to reflect farmers and their wives from all the different times right up to & including the present. Americal runs on the backs of farmers.

I was raised in Kansas. Farming was a very big part of life, even thought I was a city girl. I desperately wanted to be in 4-H, but in Wichita, you had to have livestock & dogs, cats & bunnies didn't count! Had to settle for Scouts. I am loving reading the stories from the contest. We are living in the country now, but only on 2 acres. There is a pasture across the street from us with at least 3 dozen stud bulls - red Herefords & white Charlais. We are facinated with their antics! We also feel sorry for them when the cold wind blows or they are covered in snow. No barns around here - just wide open fields.

Glad you're posting your blocks, Kathy! Lookin' great. I would love to have your view. Charolais are fascinating to look at and Hereford red is one of my fave colors.

These Herefords are gentle, too - one likes to have his face rubbed! He'll come to the fence & bellow for company. Thank goodness I have Germ-X at the house! Here's a pic of him waiting to get his face rubbed! :)

Just remember - - he loves being loved on, but he doesn't know he is bigger than you. More ranchers have been "loved" to death by their over-friendly bull than any other type of ranch accident.
I am with you, though - - cattle have personalities and it is most interesting to see how they express themselves. <wave>
People think, that because animals don't think like humans, that the animals are stupid, have no thought process, and can be dismissed out of hand. Not so fast. Consider them, watch what they do and you will see that as limited as it might be, they do think and reason things out. <wave>

Patience is a Virtue!!!
Didn't they teach you about that in 4-H? *giggles*

So here you be, my dear!
These ones were kind of fun to do ... simpler than some! :)
(and now you can scoot on over to 11+12 as well!)

These look great. I think one needs to use high contrast fabrics to really make the design shine.

Love the block with yellow. That's a color I rarely use but it looks so fresh and really makes that block. Great job as usual!

As always, many thanks JanRN. I never used yellow til very recently either. I read somewhere that every quilt should have some yellow to add some sparkle to it ... that fresh look you noticed! I'm not sure that "every" quilt should or could have yellow, though I will agree on the sparkle that it can give.
