Hope it is ok if I start this thread. I have my blocks finished. Had a few issues with the bowtie which I thought would have been an easy block to do.
Am thoroughtly enjoying this process, love playing with fabric

Now to start on the next 2, I have actually ripped out number 11 twice so time for a deep breath and start again :)

Very nice ladies, gret work.

janRN 09-01-2010 04:24 AM

Those are really pretty blocks. You ladies are up and at 'em early today!! I better get moving-will post pics later. Your blocks are such an inspiration to keep going on this project when I run into a troublesome block.

julybaby8 09-01-2010 04:42 AM

Nice job on all of your blocks!

I want to use it again and pair it up with a pale lavender print. there's a little bit of that in the background. I'm thinking that when the wives were piecing they were using fabric from clothing that had been washed alot so I like to mix some muted shades in the mix from my scraps.

I still say I haven't seen a single repeat in all the blocks. It's amazing! :) :)

wvdek 09-01-2010 06:38 AM

I think it will be lovely. I wonder how many of us were thinking the same thing about the fabrics. Anyway, I wasn't going to repeat any fabrics but some I just really like and so...

Will post mine later today. Sorry, guess this should have been on Discussion page.

stormatsea45 09-01-2010 09:38 AM

Is it too late to start with this group. I have the Farmers Wife book, but would like to continue to receive the rotary cutting directions which are not all that easy for me to find. I have the ones up to blocks 9 & 10. I don't have time right now to sew them, too much else in my life, but would like to in the near future. Thanks in advance for listening and telling me if I can still receive the rotary directions and where to find them.

Stormatsea45 I started late, and I am so happy I did. I use templates, but every week the rotary cutting is poasted on the quilters forum then go to block of the month/week. :)

sslama 09-01-2010 04:12 PM

Posted no poasted sorry

First, I want to say all of you are doing an awesome job with these little buggers. I've been working along, although in a different manner, and decided it's time for the great reveal.

I don't have the patience to stretch this out to a year or more so I'm trying to do similar blocks at the same time. Additionally, I've drawn out a lot of foundations, and am working on some of the more difficult ones at the same time.

I also plan to substitute liberally because I just don't like some of the blocks. So, I'll replace the baskets with something else farm related, for example. Another one I don't plan to use is Rosebud because it always reminds me of four pig's feet (you'll never look at it the same again!)

The fabrics are Moda Fresh Cotton. I really don't like 30's fabrics so I wanted to stretch into something similar but not quite. These are not fabrics that I would normally be attracted to either, but I think they work with the theme.

The other thing I'm doing is attaching a sashing piece to each as I go. It's helpful in arranging them.

AkAngel 09-01-2010 05:56 PM

Hello everyone, I'm here. Sorry I've not been online I've been extremely busy at work. I totally forgot today was Wed. so didn't remember to start the new page before I left this morning so I'm glad someone did.
Wow you all have been very busy, your blocks look great indeed.

Dagny you are really coming along there.
I will try to connect as often as possible, I probably won't even start on this weeks blocks til after I come back from the festival the 13th, in fact it will probably be that following weekend. Yup definately slacking.

My 9 & 10. I've also found myself working ahead, partly knowing that I'll be gone the last couple weeks of September, & partly because I'm enjoying it & have the time right now...

Honchey 09-01-2010 09:19 PM

Oh so Pretty!! :D :D :D

mirabelle 09-01-2010 11:06 PM

Still working out the do's and don'ts of this forum, sorry if I started this thread out of line.

I kind of get carried away when I start a new project and can't wait for the week to start with new blocks to make :-)

Hi Fellow Quilters, Honchey here, I post the rotary cutting instrructions every Tuesday after 10 p.m. I will be posting the new Discussion and Photo threads as well at that time.
No, I am not taking over--I am just helping out at this time.
Muriel is fine--just a little busy.
I just thought to inform you--many of us were curious.

Dagny, your blocks are going together so well. Everything blends nicely.

I think it's going well because of the rather narrow colorway in this fabric line. I'm ending up with a controlled scrappy look.

The fabrics are mostly florals, large and small, in brown, coral, yellow and apple green, with a little white.

Here's a pic of the fabrics.

For those of you who are reluctant to paper-piece, I'd encourage you to learn it anyway. Some of the blocks coming up would be difficult to do with traditional piecing. I'm drawing them in EQ, but it would be manageable to draw them on graph paper for paper piecing also. Please consider it.

rwquilts 09-02-2010 07:16 AM

Great job everyone on your blocks! So pretty!

janRN 09-02-2010 08:19 AM

Beautiful blocks everyone. Ninnie I really like your blocks esp the navy blue fabric.
