Don't you just love these easy blocks? That blue is wonderful givio!

I was just reading Laurie's website and saw the following message (maybe it has been posted here before, but since we are getting close to block 15, I figured it was work repeating):
Correction for 1930s Book Template 15A is too small. To get the correct size, go to the diagram section of the CD, print 15 Blossom and use this to make the correct size template. Hope all are having a great weekend!! |
Strange. My block worked out fine. But 33 was wrong in the one template.
Mine came out fine too QNS! Hmmmm!
Maybe it's a message about the original FWS book?
I used the foundation pping pattern and didn't have a problem..I did find that some diagrams on the photo pages aren't the same as the sectioning for the pping patterns..I think this block (15)is one of them..it has to do with the bottom corner section & the first row of the Hst's..
Yes Honchey, I used the pping pattern also for block 15. Must be why it worked.

Thank you for the compliments ladies. A couple years ago I didn't even know what paper piecing was, now it's my all time favorite. Even though I've been quilting since the 80's. To answer a couple questions about myself. I will now have lived in 8 different states, but have lived in Pa, and Oh a couple different times. I lived in Cedar Grove, NJ when I was first married in 1969, But grew up in and around the Philadelphia area. In 6 different locations around Philly. Lived in OH, CA, IL, PA, NJ, MN, NM and now on to NY. And I'm dyeing there. I'm moving to Central NY, up near Oneida Lake, just north of Syracuse. I'm also working on the Row By Row Experience. However I have to wait until Nov. 1 to get my NJ and Il. kits. I have all my license plates, and thought it would be cute to have the kits and plates all in one quilt. I'm going to make it for my sewing room. I'll have a larger room in NY. And I can't wait. And I think it'll be big enough that my sister can come over and we can sew together. Something we haven't done since we were kids. Many many many moons ago.
My you have moved around in your life, kl....how wonderful to be close to your sister to sew , but a big change in climate!...love your blocks that you've been sharing
klgreene, You could copy and paste that for your 'profile page.' :-) Anyway, you can soon change your 'location' in your profile. Did your job move you from place to place? My son moved last year to Idaho, just because he thought it would be a good place to raise a family, and for no other reason (that he expressed to me). I think he loves the mountains too. I like sewing with my sister. It's wonderful to have a sister that enjoys the same hobby.

Almost to where I should be, working on week 6 now, then 7. To hot to do canning so hopeful by next Tuesday I will be up with the rest of you. |
Oh Teri - those are so pretty. How fun to see all the blocks from everyone!
Terri, great sewing there! Yep, I recognize those colors from the book.
Love your fabric Teri... What line is it?
Can't really tell, except most of the prints are from WVa shop hop 2014, every year they have a fabric theme, and that year was '30's, so I have bits and pieces from that, they had about 15 shops through out the state, they all had a block with fabric to buy for $8 so have pieces, but not really any yardage the solids I recently got in a fabric shop in Va when I was visiting my daughter. Other pieces are just from my stash. I just hope I have enough pieces to finish this quilt.
Teri...the colors are sew pretty...this has been a perfect chance for you to use those 2014 fabrics.

Beautiful block TPR

Here are my Autumn and Ava blocks. I'll post and then back up and read the whole thread and look at everyone else's pretty blocks.
The print in my Autumn block is a vintage print I got in Paducah. I had only two little scrap circles of that fabric and was hoping the whole time I could get them to stretch to make the block. Barely did! |
Wow, the blocks posted here back in Sept. are all so beautiful. Just love what everyone chose for their fabrics. This is such a fun sew-along, even tho I'm so far behind (7 months or so...?). In a way it's an advantage because I have all the previous work of the group to inspire me!
Sewbizgirl--great blocks! You're moving right along. I did the first few blocks and then life happened. I have a week this summer that I am taking off just to sew, so hope to catch up a bit. :) I will be needing the inspiration of others too!!
carriem, I'm sure I'll still be making blocks right along with you. Maybe we can entice a few more newbies, or 'oldbies' who didn't continue.
You said I'm "moving right along"... make that "obsessed". I have other quilts to get done but I keep going back to these little pretties to play with. :D |
I agree, it's so nice to see what others do before making mine. It is an advantage in a way, as you say.
Sewbizgirl you have two more beautiful blocks done. They are addictive. The blocks are all like little gems, and each one so unique and beautiful. I like how we can draw from scraps and the new pretties too.

I believe Ava is my 19th finished FWn30's block, so I'm about 20% into it.

You are moving right along with these!
They are fun! You are getting quite a pile made, Morganfam. Unfortunately, mine are still in a pile, too. I really need to put them together.
Only part of mine are in a pile. I starting setting some, then didn't like the color I was using-- so some need to be seam ripped. I wish they were all in a pile. lol
I did the same thing, Givio. I put together a whole row with yellow sashing that I thought I'd love and now I'm taking it apart. Maybe it should just be white. Morganfam, your blocks are turning out really great. Love your fabrics.
Hi Katybob! Long time, no see... I got some 1930ish mint green cotton to use for sashings. Don't know if I will or not, tho.
