Isn't it just amazing--I haven't see a duplicate fabric in anyone's blocks !
|
These are all so beautiful-and everyone has interpreted them differently. Great job!!
|
We will need a page at the end of the year where we can post our finished quilts (or tops for us slackers)....I can't wait to see all of the amazing quilts that are going to come about as a result of this quilt along.....

May I make a suggestion? How about having a special heading or place for all the block rotary cutting instructions, templates, etc. and not mix in all the photos and discussion all together. I have been looking and have not yet found the rotary instructions for blocks #5 and #6. Will someone Please point the way?

Note: These measurements are exact except where noted. Block #5 is a little tricky because of the odd dimensions. Block #5 1. Dark Template # 34 Cut one 1-11/16" square. 2. Light Template # 35 Cut two 1- 11/16" x 2-15/16" rectangles. 3. Dark Template # 36 Cut two 3-1/2" x 2-15/16" rectangles Use template to cut correctly, especially corners. 4. Dark Template # 36 R Same as for step 3. 5. Light Template # 37 Cut two 3" x 6-1/2" rectangle. Use template to cut correctly, especiall cor ************************** Block # 6 1. Light- Template # 12 Cut two 4-1/4" squares 2. Dark- Template # 12 Cut two 4-1/4" squares Place 1 dark and 1 light 4-1/4" square -right sides facing together. Cut from corner to corner diagonally.. Do not move or shift fabric. From the opposite corners cut again diagonally. Repeat for the other 2 4-1/4" squares. Cutting the squares this way keeps the bias on the inside of the finished block. The outside of the triangle is on the straight grain of the fabric. and will not distort the finished block. What you will end up with is 8 sets of 2 triangles facing each other ready for sewing. |
Thank you sooooo very much. ;-)

Love your fabric choices! You are making a beautiful quilt!

Here are my blocks 5 & 6. I love how the Bat Wing turned out. Even though I paper pieced the Big Dipper it looks a little skewed. But hopefully once I get it off paper I can spray and iron it which will help. And when I sew it in, I think the 1/4" seams will even it out.
Now onto Birds in the Air! After everyone's comments about its difficulty, I am a little apprehensive. Even more so because I had to draw the paper piecing pattern and those are tiny HST! Bat Wing Big Dipper |
gorgeous blocks!!!

I've had these finished for a week or so, just didn't get time to put the photos online. Didn't much care for #5 (probably because I kept cutting the wrong fabric for the pieces!) , but it will blend in with everything else.
Block #5 - Not sure I like this design Block #6 |
Really nice blocks my # 6 came out much smaller than the rest, I willm do it over before I post.

The blocks look so different with just a little color change. Very nice blocks. Are you making more than one quilt. I noticed your birds. A lot of people had trouble with this one and you made 4. Great job. :)

I've also been pleasantly surprised at the differences the fabric choices make. Actually I wondered why I didn't make them all the same, but that would be too boring! |

Don't call the quilting police on me!!! I missed the points... but I have PP this block as well. It is hard but I am insisting with the technique
