I think I stared them in Feb, but the first 10 blocks I made the right size, and I didn't check the next ones i printed were all sized for finished blocks of 7 1/2 in. So rather than print all the blocks over (too much waste in paper and ink) my blocks will all be 7 1/2 in. finished. So I'll have to come up with some extra blocks. I'm ready to do Eastertide, but that one the corners will be tricky. Thank you to QNS. Ok sews, Carrie, Gardner Gal, Termi, and Dublib for the nice comments. I'm slowly catching up.

You could still use your small blocks in the same quilt ... frame them up with an extra strip/border. Or use them in a mass grouping, or on the borders. |

Or how about setting them on point with side triangles and border if needed for a center medallian. Here's an idea with my first 10--blocks are 7.5 finished with setting triangles. Top/bottom border is 1.75 and sides are 3.25. This yields a 24.75 x 48.75+ rectangle easily trimed to 24.5 x 48.5 to set unsashed blocks around. Notice how nice the basket and apple tree blocks look on point. |
I just love EQ7 for this quilt!!! Even if the tans aren't the right color in the setting triangles.

thanks Bev. I've just been playing again. I'm attaching the center with borders and blocks. I just randomly set in my completed blocks to fill spaces. I also changed the setting triangles. This takes a total of 108 blocks so would mean an additional 18 blocks to come up with a finished size of about 90 x 114. The borders are 4 inches finished so the 8 " blocks play nice in the quilt.[ATTACH=CONFIG]332012[/ATTACH]

Love the lay-out, Oksewglad. Looks very neat. I still have to finish the last four rows of the FWSQ...been busy with the Civil War Journals. GMC truck is back home & company gone. We did get into one quilt shop stop; not telling what I walked out with...

Thanks Bev and QNS. Are you tired of my ideas yet? Well if you are tough luck cause here's two more (ha ha). The center is 9 of the 7.5 inch blocks surrounded by a 3/4" border or whatever it takes to get to 24 inch center square. Then concentric borders and block strips around the center. Again the black borders are 4 inch finished. Second version has HST's in the corner. This makes a 97" square quilt using a total of 91 blocks if my math is correct.

Good ideas ... and now you're making me wish that I hadn't committed to sashings! So here's another idea for you .......... use your FWS blocks along with your PC blocks for one quilt design! :) |
