Hello Ladies!

I hope you are all enjoying your "spring break".

I won't be able to sew until Thursday, but should be able to finish a couple blocks I have almost done (Apple Tree and Christmas Tree)...all the little pieces are together, just need to assemble the big ones! I have fabric picked out for a couple more so might be able to make some more progress before the week is out!

I am thankful for the spring break...like someone else said "at least I won't get further behind"! I am having a lot of fun with these blocks and this group of ladies. :)

Thanks for the fun!! Carrie

Hello Spring Breakers!
OMG
QNSue ... you've given us a dream home-quilt-home for our Spring Break!!

DublB ... that's the way I was last Friday. Hit the drugs heavy, got a good night's sleep and poof! gone!! ... now hope I am NOT jinxing myself for another bout. I'm just SO glad to hear/see you are here and OK. I just watched pics on the news of the Texas tornadoes today blowing the 18 wheelers around in the air! Had been wondering how close they were to you? ... and was hoping you were A-OK! It's ever so good to see you here!

This should be a FUN holiday week ...... do you think we'll get any quilting done? :D

It's a place to visit with friendly people who love to talk about quilting and who can actually have a conversation without a cell phone being stuck in their ear.

Their menu offers lots of healthy low calorie meals like Italian food with hot garlic bread and Mexican food with hot sauce and chips.

Finished my two blocks for this week so hope to get more done on the weekend. It is Easter weekend here so staying home for 4 whole days to sew like mad.
Finished a medallion quilt today, just needs quilting, I started with an embroidered blocks and just did what I liked. Will post a pic when my helpers are around.
Have been watching a show called Man Versus Food and I would love to taste anything that I have seen on that show.
Sewing outside would be lovely, can't here as the mosquitoes would carry me off, they are huge.
Will stop by tomorrow after my patchwork meeting
Have fun everyone

Good morning everyone...I'm enjoying the virtual bed. Our mattress is very worn out but my husband is dragging his feet about getting a new one so in real life, I'm dreaming of a very comfortable bed that both of us would enjoy. for now this virtual one is a treat.

Maybe we should invision a screened porch to sew on. No bugs for mirabelle or me for that matter. Nice green grass all around so no dust and a good windbreak to keep the breezes in line. And lets keep the temperatures above average so we don't have to wear sweaters.

That salmon sounds wonderful, Dubib. Fresh grilled veggies make a wonderful side. I just saw on 60 minutes this guy that claims sugar is a poison when overused like it is in our current society but something sweet and chocolate always goes with a warm drink anytime of the day...maybe brownies?

QNSue....you have the most wonderful imagination! What a great setting you've given us to dream this week.

On the quilting side, I'll finish up the sashing on the d9 patch today if all goes well. I have the borders cut so may get farther. I've decided i will send it out to be quilted. Too much pressure to get 3 quilts completely done by the end of May. Took a break last night and did my block for April for the Story BOM...just have to take a picture and then I'll upload my blocks from last week. Garden is growing nicely but I see signs of little critters...voles we suspect...so my DH has declared war. Hope it doesn't get too out of hand. I have more of a live and let live outlook unless it's deer. Fencing is coming along and should all be in place by the time that grazing becomes an option for the neighborhood herd.

What's everyone else up to ..... Virtual and/or real?

Pounded fried steak smothered in Mushroom soup gravy yesterday for the guy who went fishing together and brought back some nice bass. On the side was an oven roasted pork loin. Almost five pounds worth; will be their meat for the week.

Again, I sprayed the small roaster with oil; added the roast, poured a quart of canned apples over it (4 cups), and added 3/4 cup of brown sugar, put the lid on and roasted it at 350 degrees for two and half hours. Took the lid off the last 30 minutes and it browned nicely. My dh will eat this; and he does not love pork the way I do. I grew up in Iowa and we butchered four hogs and two cows every year, I learned how to cut up and wrap fresh meat at an early age.

After the guys left to go fishing, we gals jumped into her car and sped off to the.....not quilt shops, but a nice plant nursery close by. Found some nice buys and filled her car up to the roof and had to work hard to make it all fit in. Funny how I always end up needing side boards whether its cooking or shopping. And since it was noon and we were hungry and tired, we stopped by her local "Texas" stop sign. The DQ for blizzards and a sandwich....no cooking and no dishes to wash...for real.

The downer is now I have to plant all those plants, so no sewing room action today. Wishing for some good Texas What-a-burger or tacos today....pass one on up, dublb, please.

I'll probably still be sewing on spring break but I love the idea of the grilled salmon, it's one of my favorites! Grilled is the best way to have it. Lets not forget the marshmallows. Haven't roasted those in years.

I finished quilting (DSM) and put the binding on my Roll, Roll, Cotton Boll Quilt yesterday. (Bonnie Hunter Mystery from year before last.) It is in the dryer as I speak. I'll have to take a photo to share with you. I also finished the April Calendar BOM and need to post that. I have to do the next part of the Train Ride Mystery from here on the board. I have not started next weeks blocks yet for the PC.

We leave for Phoenix next Monday. We will be taking our RV and visit our son and grandchildren that live there. Probably be gone for a little over a week.

My roses are blooming like crazy, and we have had beautiful mid 70* weather this week. The avocado tree is loaded and fruit is ready to pick. We leave them on the tree and just pick what we need. The avocados do not ripen until they are picked. The tangelos are almost all gone, but the oranges are almost ready. The nectarine tree is in full bloom (beautiful), and apricot trees have fruit developing. My two tomato plants are blooming and growing nicely. I want to plant some vegie seeds, but will wait until I return from Phoenix, so I can keep them moist.

That is it for me this week!
