Pretty block, Carriem. Love the fabric you're using.

dublb 04-15-2012 07:15 PM

Oh Carrrie it's beautiful!!!

QuiltE 04-15-2012 07:26 PM

Another lovely block CarrieM ... your quilt is going to have so much warmth, just from the fabrics you've chosen!

Termi 04-16-2012 07:32 AM

carriem, your block is beautiful!!!

oksewglad 04-16-2012 10:41 AM

Isn't it frustrating when the blocks don't show true colors? But it's still a great block, Carrie.

kwiltkrazy 04-17-2012 11:53 AM

Absolutely beautiful blocks ladies, keep up the wonderful work. Your quilts are going to be spectacular.

QuiltE 04-18-2012 09:32 AM

Thanks, we are having a lot of fun ... and learning a lot as we develop our quilting abilities along the trail.

You can still come and join us in this ride,
KwiltKrazy!!

dublb 04-18-2012 05:22 PM

Oh yes KwiltKrazy join us! We are only 1/3 of the way through. Ya could do 3 a week & finish with us, or take it slower if ya want. We'd love ta see what you would do with these blocks.:)

Thank you all for your kind comments on my Depot Block. I was able to finish Arizona today an have a VERY good start on Betty's Delight (will finish tomorrow afternoon). So here is my other block for this set of 2.

I am getting close to having 15 blocks finished, but they aren't the first 15. When I do get 15 done my plan is to start adding sashing and cornerstones to 2 sides like some of the others have been doing...then will keep going on the blocks. I was able to find my fabric for my 2nd twin size quilt so am pretty excited about that....

Have a great weekend!
Carrie

oksewglad 04-20-2012 08:22 PM

Oh Carrie that's a lovely block. I got three of my blocks done today. Don't know how many I'm behind on:eek: DH and I have an out of town trip this weekend so won't get any sewing done, but may start tearing off paper on the drive.

Nice block! Great contrast, lovely colors & perfect points! It's divine!

gardnergal970 04-21-2012 04:33 AM

Carrie...I love the colors you have been using in these blocks but I know how exciting it can be to get new fabric. Can you post a pic?

Termi 04-21-2012 07:15 AM

carriem, your arizona is beautiful, love the colors and very nice points!!!

JeanieG 04-21-2012 10:33 AM

Carrie - 15 blocks IS a milesstone! It does not have to be the 1st 15! Great work gal!

QuiltE 04-21-2012 12:46 PM

Lovely block CarrieM!!
The blocks always show themselves even nicer when you add the sashings/cornerstones and then line them up on your design wall.

carriem 04-22-2012 04:07 PM

Thanks again for your nice words. :)

Gardnergal--I posted sashing pictures under the "All the Best" and "Best Friend" Photo page with my newest block.

You really do a neat job on your blocks and I love how you use the colors of blue.

JeanieG 04-28-2012 12:43 PM

Oh that is going to be a beautiful quilt GrannyQ. Blue and cream are my favorite together.

oksewglad 04-28-2012 03:42 PM

grannyQ so how many different fabrics of blue and cream are you using? Have you thought about sashes yet?

Really beautiful blues. They aren't always easy to find. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Termi 04-29-2012 07:31 AM

grannyQ two more beautiful blocks and great points.

dublb 04-29-2012 09:13 AM

".... Don't it make my brown eyes, don't it make my brown eyes, don't it make my brown eyes blue!..." This song keeps goin' thru my mind ever since I first saw your blocks! Divine!

I reallly don't know how many blue fabrics i have. My GD & 2 GS's wanted blue quilts, and I found out making them if I used all different blues and I ran out of fabric then I could add more blues and only i would know the difference. Now another GS wants a blue quilt so will be adding more blues to my stash.
Also that is my favorite color, blue everywhere in the house.
Thank you everyone for the lovely comments. Some of the blocks haven't been the easiest to make so some of them look a little wonky in the pictures.

I think everyone here has been tested by the blocks and there's no quilt police here. Yes we admire sharp points, knowing that they come with lots of work; and they don't come with lots of hard work, too. If you haven't noticed some of us have used substitute blocks for whatever reason. You're welcome to do that too.

QuiltE 04-30-2012 11:06 AM

Another pair to please our eyes!
This is going to work together ever so lovely ... and yes, call me another blue fan! :)

What amazing blocks everyone is doing. Here is my At the Depot. I'm jumping around as time, and my fabric, speak to me

dublb 04-11-2014 07:10 PM

Well now isn't that a wonderful block?

QuiltE 04-12-2014 05:33 AM

W4Me ... the blue seems to glow over its duller buddies. Nicely chosen mixture ... and great FC centre! And yes, I am still rooting for the burgundy to make an appearance! :):):)

works4me 04-12-2014 08:45 AM

Thank you dublb.
QuiltE - Thanks. The blue looks darker on the design wall. Amazing the things a camera picks up. You won't have too long to wait for the burgundy as I'm planning to do some two colour blocks so I can combine the sage with each of my other batiks. It has to happen eventually, so why not at the beginning?

And here is Arizona. I've decided to concentrate on two colour blocks for a bit so I can see the sage combined with each of the other batiks.

oksewglad 04-12-2014 05:53 PM

Now that one really glows! Do the variances in the colors in your batiks pose a challenge as well?

works4me 04-13-2014 07:13 AM

Thank you for following along oksewglad. I appreciate the encouragement. I'm actually ignoring any variances, for the most part, and just letting the pieces fall where they may. :)

I agree .... a real nice glow!
I never saw the orange in the sage, til I saw this block ... it has really drawn it out.
Likewise how the orange pulled the orange out of the brown batiks in Bright Hopes.
One of the amazing things of batiks!

W4Me ... Good plan to work on the two colour blocks to help with a balance.
Do you have oodles of sage to keep it as your constant?

JeanieG 04-13-2014 08:36 AM

Just beautiful!

works4me 04-13-2014 08:58 AM

QuiltE - the orange in the sage batik looked really soft brown/tan in the clover block. It appears it was a good choice for a constant. Originally, I chose it because it was a soft colour and seemed like it would play nice. Now, I see all the other colours I never noticed before. And even those colours seem to change.

Thanks JeanieG - I'm glad to have you following along.

Definitely a good choice!!!

You've seen it working already where you have used 2 with the sage ... the more you do that, the more the blending and unity will happen, and will help to pull the singles (with the sage) together with all.

Anael 04-14-2014 10:16 AM

Beautiful blocks w4me! I love the sage fabric, it really has a lot of colours you wouldn't notice without using other fabrics with it. I hope this makes sense :)

works4me 04-14-2014 12:17 PM

It makes perfect sense Anael as I'm noticing colours in the sage that I never saw before, too. :)
