Hey Everyone, I think I'm starting to catch up.
Anael, love your depot block, it's so cute! Love the colors. gardenergal970, Very pretty blocks!!! wendiq, looks like we have some of the same fabric. Beautiful blocks! jeannie g, love the fabric on both depot and AZ, especially depot with the carriage!! fryguymoore, very nice fabrics, love the ponies!! honchey, the points look perfect on your AZ block, I have trouble with those. Guess I need more practice. JanRN, very cute fabrics, love the dog house depot!!! I'm going to try to post mine. |
Termi ... What do you mean you need practice with points? They look pretty nice and pointy to me!
And talk about another P ... patience ... to do all those fussy cut strips. Fantastic job! |
Termi you really have an eye for color proportion in the wonderfully cut (and sewn) Depot block. These two blocks are great companions for each other, too. I echo QE's thoughts, your Patience has been rewarded!
|
Oh Termi, you did a great job on these blocks! Beautiful!
|
Termi - They are so cute! I like all of the red!
|
Today was grey & dreary so to get cheered up I spent a lot of time looking and catching up on all your blocks. You are all so talented!! I love each and every block you've posted. The fabrics are gorgeous and so cute to look at. I'm glad I was home alone so no one would hear all my oohs & aahs and wonder what was going on behind closed doors LOL!! Thank you all for posting these beautiful blocks--what inspiration to keep going on this project. You all nailed them--I think they're hard and it takes me a long time per block. Wow--you all impress me!! I love, love them all.
|
Termi I love your blocks, the second one is my favourite, the centre is just adorable
|
Termi...so eye catching. You really have the ponies corralled.

Depot and Arizona
HI Everyone, Thanks so much for your kind words. I have fun making the blocks but it takes me a long time too.
|
Termi, bravo! I love your blocks. I love the fussy cutting you did on the first block. You don't know whether they are picking someone up, or dropping them off. Fantastic color combos. Love the little cowboy block.

Honchey, I am just now reading your posts. I am so happy you loved the red material I bought in Des Moines, Iowa. I finally finished Arizona and working on at the depot. Finished the flower basket as well; will post pictures later. Still getting used to new computer and printer...hope to get caught up by February.

I call my block "In the Tree" just a crazy ole squirrel hoarding tiny bits of fabric so she can make tiny quilts!! I have to get some acorns in this quilt, too!
|
Oh! OK he's so cute!
|
Oh that is too cute. Hey, I have some tiny acorn fabric-PM me if you'd like some. Great job on those points!
|
Gladie, that is fantastic, I love the little squirrel. Can't wait to see more.
|
So cute the squirrel, great block
|
OKSGlad ... Mr. Squirrel is just too darned cute! No doubt he's hoarding fabric scraps for a cozy and cuddly nest!

Catching up here, if the computer cooperates:A young city cowboy, Carl Bert McKern, from Charlotte, NC., back in 1958. Cowboy UP. And on to Arizona, and Saddle UP, cowgirls!
|
Once again, QNSue ... outstanding!
I'm so happy to see that you have used a "real" photo! And I suspect there'll be more. Might this be your DH? or brother? or? Great greenery around him ... and the barn doors and stone foundation even!! :) Are you planning the brown for your sashing? |
Cowboy is Grandmother Carrie's great nephew; in 1958. I was in HS...I could walk and ride at the same time on Starlight. Undecide on background material, just the blocks to the far left side are going to have "green" in them...going green making "green cripped hay" for the horses. Modern farm terms of reconditioning the hay instead of mowing it down as we did in the olde days...the hay has better flavor and nutruitents by today's method.
|
QNS You are catching up quickly! More beautiful blocks!
|
Just amazing QNinaSue.

QNinaSue-looks like alfalfa in ATD block. The barn siding reminds me of the wood on an livestock RR car.
I remember when Dad bought his first "crimper" (that's what we MW'ers called it) He pulled it behind the sickle mower. Helped the hay dry faster, too, especially if there was any red clover in the hay mix. Here's a pic of the type my son uses to cut our hay now. The long red arm pivots and swings out of the way when mowing, cuts a 13' swath compared to the 6' the sickle mower cut. |

QNS another set of beautiful blocks. I showed DH and he said "wow" which is a speech from him LOL. They are fantastic. And like Jeanie said, us city gals are getting a real education. Thank you!
|
Your welcome; its a bit of family history included since it will go to our only grandson who is three years old now. From my "chuck wagon" recipe asked for is in discussion pages of QB. The challenge will be to get story down into written form that goes with the quilt.
Thanks everyone for your kind comments. Love QB!!! |
Sounds like you are making a real heirloom QNS. Be sure to document it really well, so all of history knows about the quilt and the story behind it. What a treasure for the generations to come.

OKSGlad ... another New Holland fan, I see!! :) Our forage equipment was always NH!

No fancy font tonight for me. Oh well I have color! I went to make the Arizona block and thought I had seen an Iowa block so choose to do that one instead. I really missed the center cross seam--oh well guess this is the
Not so perfect Iowa Star. |
Nicely done OKSGlad ... and good for you for doing the Iowa block!
I've seen mention of samplers with blocks for every State ... one for you and the ever-so-patriotic DublB to do sometime. (and of course the rest of the USA contingent! Now, if only I had such a thing as an Ontario block! ... hhmmm? wonder if I could find a PP Trillium block to make? (and if anyone should have one ... it'd save me a lot of googling some day!!! :) |
I like that you made a block for your state. I think it personalizes your quilt.
|
oksewglad, what a clever idea. I love your fabrics.
QuiltE, This is right up your alley. Ontario trees and trilliums. http://www.softexpressions.com/Merch...e_Code=CQMEASE |
