anael, your clover leaf block is sooooo pretty!!! And your points are perfect, nice job!!!!! I get stuck on which fabrics to use too.

JeanieG 03-29-2012 09:55 AM

I love that little floral print Anael. Very pretty, and well done as usual!

Hey, you can jump in any time. Just get the book so you have the patterns and start with the week we're currently on. This is only the 13th week and there will be 45 total so we have a ways to go. There are a total of 90 8 imch blocks and we do 2 a week. The book is Farmers Wife Pony Club by Laurie Hird. I got mine from Amazon.

Take the plunge, jump on in, & join us on this trail! A bunch of us are already behind so it's ok ta start late! The more the merrier! Buy the book, find your fabrics or shop your stash & do next week's blocks. Honchey starts 2 threads every Tuesday night, a photo page & a discussion page. You can do a few at a time (that you are behind on) as you go.:)

Thanks for all the compliments. I see that I too neglected to do the "mirror" of the CW...oh well, I am happy with it any ways.

I have really enjoyed all of your blocks!

I had a good sewing day. I finished Clover Leaf and Cake Stand. I also have Christmas tree all cut out and should be able to finish that tomorrow...then I have to design two cards before I can do more sewing.

Carrie

dublb 03-29-2012 06:51 PM

Oh, Carrie, it's soooo pretty! Ya did great!

QuiltE 03-29-2012 06:57 PM

That's so pretty once all sewn together, CarrieM! All squared and pointed indeed!

Anael 03-29-2012 09:24 PM

OK where did the last few days go, you know when you have forgotten something but can't remember what, well that was me all day today and it finally dawned on me as I drove home from my embroidery club meeting that I hadn't posted my blocks. Two phone calls after I arrived home and I had forgotten again:p, then it was time to cook dinner aarrrggghhh. So dinner is in the oven and I am going to post my pics for this week, before something else gets in the way...

I have looked at all the beautiful blocks this week and you all amaze me each week at how diverse everyones blocks are.

A special thank you to QNS for my beautiful clover fabric which I have used this week, so it has been renamed as my QNS Leaf:thumbup:

Now I am off to feed the troops, I think I will be in bed early tonight

QuiltingNinaSue 03-30-2012 10:59 AM

Beautiful. Love that clover!! Really goes with your beautiful red roses. I do not like the clover that comes up in my flower beds, it is so hard to pull up...that and alfalfa has long roots. Maybe I can post all my PC blocks after Tuesday and get caught up again. But it has been a real pleasure to see all the lovely blocks that each of you have made!!

Mirabell, you are welcome to name your blocks as you choose to do so; but, I would not want to "jinx" your luck on producing lovely blocks.

QuiltE 03-30-2012 12:00 PM

MiraB ... a beautiful pair, as always! The dark green works so well with your print and balances nicely with the Captain's Wheel navy

QNSue ... you have a good reason for not being with us right now ... same reason why I am not caught up!!! I'm looking forward to seeing your FWS.

LovingIzabella 03-30-2012 12:04 PM

More beautiful blocks! Thank you for sharing. I am going to post my lucky block ASAP.
Hugs
April

Termi 03-30-2012 03:46 PM

mirabelle, your blocks are beautiful!! Love the clover fabric and the navy stars. Just love your color scheme!

mirabelle 03-31-2012 07:47 PM

QNS how could I possibly be jinxed when I am sewing with such a wonderful group of ladies:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

dublb 03-31-2012 08:13 PM

Mirabelle - I see those beautiful roses are back! You did great choosing colors ta go with 'em. That green clover is just the right shade of green. You know I feel about the stars, yet they are gorgeous with those roses.

JanieW 04-01-2012 07:25 AM

mirabelle,

as usual, your blocks are so attractive. the clover fabric is so delicate.

Bev, great blocks!! I really like your clover leaf one.

JeanieG 04-04-2012 09:07 PM

Great job Bev. Isn't it amazing how different the blocks look with all the different fabrics.

Termi 04-05-2012 04:24 AM

dublb, great job on your blocks! I love that patriotic fabric. Your quilt will be gorgeous.

gardnergal970 04-05-2012 04:38 AM

Dubib...even the stripes are straight! Great blocks.

QuiltingNinaSue 04-05-2012 05:54 AM

hey, I recognize that fabric!! It looks great!!! Good job.

janRN 04-05-2012 08:23 AM

I'm getting caught up on all YOUR blocks (don't ask about mine LOL). You guys amaze me with the different color combos; each block looks so different.
QE-love the spring time colors in CL, will look beautiful with your yellows.
Carriem, is that gray? I love that color combo-just bought some gray fabric.
Mirabel-that bright green really makes your soft colors pop.
Bev-I can't believe you have all those stripes straight! Love the patriotic theme you're using.

Great job on all the blocks, everyone. Getting caught up was like getting extra eye candy!

carriem 04-05-2012 09:15 AM

Jan--no gray...the clover leaf is green it is a little marbled, looked gray when I took the picture. I used my dd camera (mine still uses film!) so I haven't learned how to adjust everything yet n the digital one.

dublb 04-05-2012 12:07 PM

Ya'll are so sweet. Thanks!
QNS
- :) I wonder where I got it? Seriously, it's lovely. I did coffee stain it & some other that I had & some you sent me.
Everyone else - I got the strips straight by printing the line drawings on freezer paper cuttin' 'em out. Then ironin' those onto the back of the fabric, lining it up with the strips. I then cut the pieces 1/4" bigger than the freezer paper. It's kinda like fussy cutting.

mirabelle 04-05-2012 02:26 PM

Beautiful blocks Dublb, thanks for the tip on getting your stripes straight(try saying that fast) will definitely be using it when I am next cutting stripes

QuiltE 04-05-2012 05:03 PM

DublB ... those two blocks are true American ones! I swear that by the time we are done the PC, you'll have me saying The Pledge of Allegiance with you!!! :) Good idea on the how to of lining up stripes!

JanRN ... Thanks! Both the greens really do remind me of our clover fields!

Mirabelle...I have the same green fabric for the clover leaf but honestly, I had the block made before I saw yours.

Dubib..I agree with QuiltE...Your blocks are so patriotic!

I'm going to try to add the sashing as I go from now on.

QuiltE 04-06-2012 06:37 AM

Oh GGal ... What are those bees doing, buzzing around the chicken coop? And delicate pinwheels spinning over the clover fields! That sashing frames them up and makes them look even more awesome!!! ........... and now I can't wait til the 30-milestone to see all your blocks together with the sashing!!!!!!!! :)

janRN 04-06-2012 08:19 AM

Ggal I really like your blocks. And that sashing color is to die for!! Love the fussy cut chicken. What a smart idea to sew your sashing on as you go. Hmmm-now if I could just decide on a sashing color......

O boy. I've only begun to add the sashing. I'll have some catching up to do to get it on all of them. It really does change the look.

JanRN...I'll bet you have something that would be perfect. Just decide which fabric you don't want to keep putting aside and just go for it. A couple of days ago, I took a couple of FQ's that I don't know why I ever brought home and just used them for blocks and don't you know, I like how they turned out. I think fabric is pretty forgiving if we get the values right. Kind of like flowers on the wild. Such an abundance of color and form, each adding it's own touch.

QuiltE 04-06-2012 10:54 AM

GGal ... I so agree with you ... fabric is forgiving if we get the values right. That's the HUGE challenge though!! I wish I could learn/understand all the colour stuff!

If/When I decide on sashing/cornerstones, I'll be doing it as I go too. While I didn't have it early, that's the way I put it on the FWS when I got it ... and oh my, how the "look" changed! So would love to have it done as I go ... though I guess I'd need to decide whether I am doing QAYG or not, before I go at it!

JeanieG 04-06-2012 10:57 AM

Great blocks Gardnergal! I love the bees and chicken one especially. The sashing and cornerstones are going to be perfect! I keep auditioning different fabrics for my sashing, really a hard decision when using scrappy fabrics. So much easier with the coordinated ones.

QuiltingNinaSue 04-06-2012 01:37 PM

Love that rooster!! All the blocks are very nice; think I will wait to post mine. Happy Easter everyone!!

mirabelle 04-06-2012 02:40 PM

GardnerGal, it just shows that we have excellent taste. QNS sent me the clover fabric and I just had to use it in my blocks.

wendiq 04-07-2012 06:29 AM

GardnerGal......your colors and fussy cutting is excellent. I envy your ability to look ahead and know what you want for your sashing and cornerstones. I really need to do that as I know it is easier in the long run. Maybe seeing yours, will help me get on the ball....LOL!
