Week 13 and my Clover Leaf has not been very lucky....Captain's Wheel was a dream to do for me....It's about that time for the Block Parade!!!

Beautiful wheel! The clover looks like it will be wonderful when it stops giving you fits!

I had a horrible time with the Captains Wheel :( I seam ripped the intersections four times and it still stinks! I am afraid I will rip the fabric if I do it again so for now it is what it is I guess. I will finish my clover tomorrow night but for now here is my Wheel block.
Hugs

I hear you with the Clover leaf, Honchey. I did a "bit" of frog stitching on mine.

The spokes on my wheel are backwards from the one in the book because I forgot to do mirror image when I printed the pattern. Oh well. Love the horses in Honchey's and LovingIzabella's. They look so good.

Wow such beautiful blocks! Ya'll are doing great! I've picked out my fabrics & have some of my freezer paper ironed in place, but that's as far as I've gone.
3 Lovely Captian's Wheels & 1 perfect Clover Leaf. Are ya'll competing for FC Queens?
Honchey - I love those babies with their mothers! You are gonna git that Clover Leaf!
LI - That fabric makes me think of the painted desert!
Janiew - You are the first ta finish these blocks!

I do have my decoupage plate picts.

Honchey ... ooo la la for the Captain's Wheel .you couldn't have had a better fabric combo. Your Clover Leaf is going to be a match when it cooperates. Sometimes it's better to just walk away til a new day comes! :)

♥Iz ... I know you are disappointed ... yet I think it looks wonderful!

JanieW ... great green mix and it looks like it all came together well! Cute horsemen in the Captain's Wheel and I really like the batiks for the spokes.

DublB ... what? no patriotic plate? Those are REALLY nice!! I'm sure that the ladies at your retreat liked them and are enjoying them in their homes. Maybe you can give us some lessons on your decoupage plates during our Spring Break? These two blocks should work well for your fabrics!

Here's my two ... I dealt with the mirror image for the Clover Leaf and then totally forgot about it til I was almost done for the Captain's Wheel.... so I muttered at myself, "Does it really matter?" And answered with a big loud Nope!! :)

Lovely blocks! Don't change a thing! Such nice points & lovely fabric. I recognize that center. I see your bling!
PS How did I miss your joke about patriotic plates? He He!

JanieW 03-27-2012 08:21 PM

Well done, QuiltE. You worked in your yellows really well. Your clover leaf fabrics are well chosen.

If ever Santa said "Yee Haw", it was in that centre block. great fussy cutting. I love it.

QuiltE 03-27-2012 08:29 PM

:)
Yes, I think a few of us have lucked out on the Cowboy Santa!!! I just wish I could have worked in the Merry Christmas, but thought I needed something dark to frame it up. Maybe it will show up in a later block?

So you caught on to the partriotic plate comment,
DublB?

JanieW ... I think with the block name of Clover Leaf and recent St. Paddy's day we're all thinking green for sure! I've used that dark a LOT. The light was a FQ I got recently ... I didn't realize til I went to work with it that it looks like it's dirty ... a splotchy tea stained look. In the smaller pieces it looks a little odd ... definitely as though it's stained. Though it does help it blend a little with the yellow.

Betty62 ... glad that you are enjoying the blocks. I'll echo DublB's invitation for you to join us on the trail. Think of how much more you'd enjoy them each week!

The yellow .... a better colour representation this week. Last week's had a very washed look.

And again you all made lovely blocks! Honchey, you will get there :D Just take it easy! (It's hard to type with a cat sitting on my hands!!)

dublb: gorgeous plates! I would love to have some of them :D

Here's my Captain's Wheel. I still have to do the Clover Blossom but I don't have clover fabric so I have to think of something else.

Aah-my favorite morning of the week and you ladies certainly didn't disappoint!
Anne-I have a block on my sewing table that looks just like your Clover Leaf LOL. I do like the peaceful feeling of your Captain's Wheel.
April-these blocks are hard (at least I think so) and I love the fabric use you used.
Janie-great blocks as usualy and I love your little cowboys.
QE-I rarely use yellow but I'm loving it in your blocks--very pretty, adds a "spark".
Anael-love your block with the great fussy cutting and such pretty green.
Bev- please don't show your plates--all I need is another "addiction" LOL. I love them and would like to try decoupage some day. They are beautiful.
Carrie-love your fabric. Those blocks are so pretty in those colors.
Betty-you are so kind with all your compliments; glad you're following along with our little journey.

Here are my blocks for this week:

gardnergal970 03-28-2012 04:58 AM

Honchey..your CW does look dreamy...the horses so content. The half square triangle points look good. Press on and you will conquer.

LIz...like someone said , yours looks like the painted desert. Beautiful.

JanieW...cute cowboy in CW and your pinwheels are pristine.

Dubib...your plates are gorgeous. #3 particularly looks like a quilt block. Once a quilter, always a quilter, huh?

QuiltE...on the first day of the showing and you have both blocks beautifully done. It sure helps to have the FW out of the house doesn't it? Hope your taxes don't give you fits too long. Can you fill on line like we do here in the States? That sure has made it easier for me. I can do all of the formulas, etc, but it is so much easier to just give the sw the information and have it fill in the blanks where needed!

Anael...you CW is lovely. Great FCC.

Carrie...I like your fabric choices for CW although I suspect the colors are really more red if that really is your sashing that it's laying on. Will you be sashing as you go?

I'll be back with this weeks during the recess but will be posting the last couple of weeks later today.

LovingIzabella 03-28-2012 06:11 AM

JanieW-Thank you for the kind words on my horse. I completey forgot about the mirror image and now realize all of my blocks so far are wrong (good thing it is only three!) Not sure I am going to redo them all though. I may redo the Wheel as I am not happy with the way it looks. I am not sure if it is the corners that bug me, the spokes in the wrong direction or the lack of color separation. I love the painted desert this brings because that was the feel of the original fabric that I fell in love with and wanted to keep but....
I love your blocks! The clover is perfect and your little cowboys in the center of the wheel are perfect. I love the FC!

dublb-I love your plates! I decoupage but never thought to do it with the fabric on plates. Beautiful thank you for sharing!

QuiltE-I love love your Cowboy Santa and what a great job on the FC. Your two blocks look wonderful. Love them too! and I have to agree..I don't think it matters either and am keeping the ones already made the way they are. Unless I redo them...then I will fix the mirror issue lol

Anael-Your Wheel is beautiful! I love the horses and the FC spokes. Great job.

CarrieM-Love the fabrics you are using and your blocks look wonderful!

JanRN-thank you for the kind words. These blocks are tough but I hope by the end of them I will have grown some in my skills. I love your blocks and especially that beautiful birdie! Great job! And I see your spokes are right..Whaaaa!! I so messed this block up :(

garndergal970-Thank you for the kind words. I wanted the painted desert look but I am doubting the block as it appears to like in color with not enough pop....

I cannot wait to see more blocks and get my clover done. It has nothing at all to do with green or clovers lol Want to know what my lucky charm err clover will be???? Guess y'all have to wait and see.....

Hugs
April

Anael 03-28-2012 06:38 AM

Carrie, your blocks are lovely. The fabric is beautiful!

JanRN: what a gorgeous bird! Your CW is bright and beautiful, gives me an idea of what I can do!

April, just hang in there. Some blocks are easy and some aren't. Your fuzzy cutting is great and I love your fabric!

QuiltingNinaSue 03-28-2012 07:12 AM

Fantastic blocks; beautiful show. Love the desert colors Anael!! Wold not change any of the blocks, but if anyone throws them away, throw them this way!!!

Good morning! So nice to see so beautiful blocks this morning.

Honchey - I love your block. You know, those tiny half square triangles are also making me mad. Love your green fabrics. When done it will be very beautiful

LovingIsabella - The horse running on the desert really looks like a paiting. I do love it.

JanieW - I love the central cowboys. Love both the way they are. I did the same error on my Captain's Wheel.

dublb - Gourgeos decoupage plates, all of them reminds me pieces of quilt blocks, I love the one with red triangles. Quilt E had a great idea, give us some lesson during the Easter break.

Quilt E - Beautiful blocks and beautiful clover leaves fabric. Santa looks great in the center of the wheel. Very well done.

Anael - Beautiful work, your block looks great.

Carriem - Love those blues. The clover leaf block looks as it will be just beautiful when done. Great work.

JanR - Love your bright version of clover leaf, beautiful turquoise. The central bird on the wheel is just something, so beautiful, looks so real. Love your block.

Here is my 1st block for this week: Captain's Wheel. Hope to find some time to have the 2nd block done soon.

I'm just going to say to one and all.....FANTASTIC FABRICS AND BLOCKS MADE! I am not taking the time to single out each one of you "stars of quilting". You know who you are and you deserve all the accolades given.....:)

I didn't have any clover print so I reverted to my "Cowboy/Cowgirl" theme......I am skipping the Captain's Wheel....it's beyond my patience level.....LOL! I may make a substitute, but I have a lot on my plate the next couple of weeks, so I may skip a few of these next ones and catch up later.....

gardnergal970 03-28-2012 08:19 AM

JanRN..your bluebird makes my heart sing! I love it
Ivani..wonderful fussy cutting!
Wendig...your little people are the cutest!

janRN 03-28-2012 08:30 AM

I just love Wednesdays!! So much to ooh & aah over.
Arte: love the way your pony seems to be jumping right off the fabric-great block.
Wendiq: your little cowpokes make me smile--they are too cute. I found a few blocks coming up that I'm going to skip/substitute. I got the y-seams done okay in a couple of blocks but I agree: why stress? I learned the technique, don't like it, and won't do it (she says as she stomps her foot like a 2 year old LOL!!)

dublb 03-28-2012 08:48 AM

Anael - Your white horse looks alive! Such great FC skills!
Carrie - Your Clover leaf is going ta be beautiful. Nice Captian's wheel! Your fabric choices are always beautiful, these blocks are no exception. Your sashing & cornerstone fabric will be a great accent.
Jan - I love that turquoise. Your bird is darling! Those greens are a perfect accent for her.
GG - You're doing better at catching up than I am! Good going!
Loveing - Your Captian's Wheel is beautiful! Don't you dare change it! You accomplished that Painted Desert look perfectly! (Please don't change it.)
Art - That horse looks so happy! He's free! Your color choices are, as always, perfect for him. I also like your new avatar. So pretty!
Windi - Great block, & so in keeping with the pony club theme. Those little cowpokes are darling!

In regards to my plates. I used cheater cloth fabrics 'cause I wanted a quilted theme. I made 4 of each 'cause We had hoped that 12 people would go ta the retreat. Only 10 came so I ended up with 2 of the bird plates! :) Debbie hosted the retreat so I gave her another one of the #3 plates. (I kept forgetting ta count myself as one of the 10!:o So I kept thinking that someone didn't git their plate! Talk about feeling sheepish!)

Wow, another week of beautiful blocks! Love to see them all.

Honchey, I like the fabrics you will be using for CL. Your CW looks great, the center is a beautiful scene!

LovingIzabella, I absolutely love the fabrics you used, they are gorgeous!!! Great job!

JanieW, cute fabrics in CL, are those tiny stars? Beautiful green. Very cute center in CW, well done!!

dublb, your plates are just gorgeous!!! what a great idea!

QuiltE, your CL is beautiful with the green and yellow. Love that smiling horse in CW. He looks like he's very proud of something. Very pretty star fabric in the background. As always, great job!!

anael, very cute fabric in CW, a beautiful horse and cowboy stuff including a quiver of arrows! Nice job!!

Carriem, beautiful fabrics in both blocks, love that plum color. Nice work!!

JanRN, what a pretty shade of blue in CL and your points are perfect!! Very pretty blue bird in CW. We have them checking out our bird houses. That's one beautiful block!!

ArteEmCasa, in CW the brown and green look so great together. The small green print is so cute. Great horse fabric too and nice job!!

wendiq, Oh, how cute!!!!! It's stunning the way the colors work together, great job!!!

Well I guess I'll show you mine. Not too happy with CW. I too forgot about the mirror image plus the corners of the block don't line up. Don't know what the heck happened.

gardnergal970 03-28-2012 09:23 AM

Termi...you really got the wheels going didn't you? You were able to square up the CW...it will work. And your horses and sheep are really in clover! Great job.

JanieW 03-28-2012 09:44 AM

Lots to drool over this morning.

I am admiring your plates, dublb, very creative.

Anael,.. good for you getting your spokes on the wheel going the right way. I love your colours, that green is so soft.

carriem.. such rich colours, they make your blocks look great well done.

JanRN.. good job on those bleeping Y seams. I really like your blue clover leaf, but the soft greens and bluebirs are just superb.

ArteEmCasa..your horse is just terrific. Again I am impressed by your work and the colours in your fabrics.

Wendyq... your little people are so cute. What a neat idea.

Termi.. the wagon wheels add a new look to that block. I am a sheep lover so really like the idea to put them in among your clover.

dublb 03-28-2012 10:10 AM

Termi - Oh wow! Your wagon wheels are such a darling touch. So what if it is backwards & your unique spokes are a great design change. :) Your FCing in both blocks are perfect. Who else would have thought ta put both sheep & horses in a field of clover??

Oh JANRN You're on to me.....LOL! But you put it so much better......HeeHee....:)

wendiq 03-28-2012 11:31 AM

TERMI.....LOVE the wagon wheels......

janRN 03-28-2012 01:45 PM

Love your blocks, Termi. Those wagon wheels are so cute and your horses & sheep look so content in their clover.

What does mirror image mean? Am I missing something about the blocks? (wouldn't be the first time LOL).

QuiltE 03-28-2012 03:02 PM

Anael ... Looks like another perfect block on your part! I really like the green, the shading shows it off nicely, and the colour looks so fresh. Great FC work!

CarrieM ... I Like I Like !!! the more I see of your fabrics, the more I am drooling!!! That plum and turquoise in your Clover Leaf are so beautiful and works so well along with the light print. And look at the FC work!! Great contrasts and seam work in your Captain's Wheel. Your sashing and cornerstones are going to really make your blocks pop! Can't wait to see the 30 block milestone with these fabrics.

JanRN ... oooooooohhhhh springy turquoise and then the fresh green of spring with lots of sunlight in it. Both blocks are absolutely stunning. I particularly am fond of the way your Captain's Wheel came to life with the bird and the dark/light fabric mix. I have some of that bird fabric .. you're giving me ideas!

GGal ... yes we can e-file! However I don't ... I still bundle stuff up and take it to the accountant and then he e-files. There's some elements within mine that just aren't friendly to most people and many still opt to work thru an accountant when in these situations.

♥Iz ... oh so colourful you are! Yours looks just fine. I'm not sweating it out with the mirror image thing. A lot of the blocks do their own flipping, so perhaps the ones that you have done have flipped it on their own? So Lucky Charms, eh? Can't wait to see what comes!!

ArteEC ... What a perfect match of prints with the FC horse . The wheel spokes look like more of the fence and the horse appears it is jumping into a field of green covered in white clover blossoms! :) It's so nicely done.

WendiQ ... those little darling cowpokes look like they're related to some I've seen in JanieW's! I like your Lucky Horseshoes amidst the green fields of the pinwheels. Please don't let the Captain's Wheel scare you away ... it's not really that hard. Just PP it. Because of the larger pieces, it's a good one to learn/practice y-seams.

Termi ... What a great interpretation ... wheels within the Wheel!!! Terrific colour mixing. And then beautiful clover fabric spinning in the pinwheels as the horses and sheep graze quietly along.

All ... thank you for the many kind words to my blocks! I had fun doing the Cowboy Santa ... and look forward to seeing how others will use that fabric! I'm liking that yellow "spark" as JanRN called it, though am hoping it doesn't become too sunny bright!! I'm hoping to do a major catch up during spring break and then want to keep with the posse from here on. At least I hope I can!!! :)

JeanieG, Both your blocks are wonderful!!! Love that clover fabric and nice contrast. What beautiful horse fabric in CW. Nice job on both!!

dublb 03-28-2012 06:19 PM

I love 'em Jeanie, a beautiful clover leaf w/nice points & your FC horses look like they will fight their way right out of the block!

Hi janRN, no you're not missing anything about the blocks because yours came out right. I'm doing PP and I don't know how to print a mirror image of the block so I wind up building the block on the right side of the paper instead of the wrong side which is the normal way. Good thing my PP paper is very transparent.

QuiltE 03-28-2012 07:40 PM

JeanieG ... with great contrasts for both blocks they are each bring their own dramatic presence! Those FC horses really seem to come to life!

Jeanie, love love the clover block-so pretty with such high contrast and perfect points. Beautiful horses.
Anael, love your fabric in your clover block and you, too, with perfect points.
Termi, then I don't know why my blocks are coming out right--I just hit "print" LOL. Sometimes I guess I just get lucky.

I feel like that a lot Anael ... more so than when I did the FWS. I've been blaming it on the fact that I'm keeping the yellow consistent and then don't have the freedom to use the fabric/colours that I "want" for a specific block. Last night I went to do one of the earlier ones I didn't get done and I went back and forth not being able to decide on fabric.

The wait was well worth it,
Anael ... this one says spring all oer it and looks ever so perfect!

JanRN ... what are you doing here? you're supposed to be dashing away for all that shop shop shopping with DH's moo-la!!! HAVE FUN!!!!!

gardnergal970 03-29-2012 04:37 AM

Jeanie...your blocks are so dramatic and very well done.
Anael...your little pinwheels are so cute spinning in the spring print. I love it.

Anael 03-29-2012 05:24 AM

Thank you Jan, QuiltE and gardnergal! It's not that I'm stuck because of using colors, it's more because I read clover and can't think of anything else :( So when I saw blocks without clover fabric I realized it doesn't have to be clover fabric! Most of the time I just do as I think will look best in my quilt but sometimes it seems I can't think at all
