I agree with QuiltE. The block has great contrast. I really like it.

Termi 07-06-2012 07:12 AM

QuiltingNinaSue, I just love the color combination in your block. I hope you keep it for your PC quilt. It deserves a place there.

Here are mine for the week.

carriem 07-16-2012 03:50 PM

GGal--great job on your blocks. I like your substitute...what is the name of this block?

QuiltingNinaSue 07-16-2012 04:35 PM

GG,love your colors and blocks. lol!!., I had to go back and look at mine again; forgotten already what I had done. Time moves on too fast this summer...drought is taking its toll on dh's nerves.

janRN 07-16-2012 05:14 PM

Ggal I love your blocks. The fabrics are so pretty and your sashing looks great with them.

oksewglad 07-16-2012 05:22 PM

Very nice GGal. Very soft subtle contrasts in both.

dublb 07-16-2012 05:32 PM

Ohhh GG they are great!!!

QuiltE 07-16-2012 07:56 PM

GGal ... Oh so nice! The background of the pinwheel block gives it such a look of motion. I like the three tone contrast you've created. And then some blue sky jumps in amidst the bolts of lightening!!

gardnergal970 07-17-2012 04:15 AM

Thanks all. Wheel is the name of the block I used instead of the Indian.

dublb 07-17-2012 04:08 PM

GG - It's just darlin'!

Sunglasses everyone Please!!! This is the closest I could imagine for Lightning from my stash..I used it for another block..can't remember which one...I'm going to use another Kansas block..I'm joining Jan as far as "Y" seams go..that's unless it's easy...I'm doing the easy ones first and then the tough ones inbetween....that's between "Rosie"...crumbs...postage stamps...Carol Doak mystery BOM 2012, Yahoo FWS "Mystery"...

QuiltE 07-17-2012 05:35 PM

Beautiful and so precise, Honchey!

Now what is this FWS Mystery of which you speak?
Please Do tellllllllllllllll!!

carriem 07-17-2012 05:40 PM

Honchey--your block looks great. Isn't it nice to get another one done?!?

dublb 07-17-2012 05:43 PM

Such a beautiful block Honchey! Please let us know about the mystery!

There's a new host for the Yahoo FWS Pony Club Group...She has added a "mystery BOM...has nothing to do with the Pony Club Quilt_Along...she's trying to generate "interest" amonst the members there...12" blocks..3 a month? I'm adding them to the blocks from the 2012 Carol Doak Mystery...one a month. I will be doing them in assorted reds and white on whites..I only have 2 blocks from Carol Doak's group done...and they are very pretty...I always wanted to do a red /white quilt...I will post some photos later...H.

oksewglad 07-17-2012 06:19 PM

Blue flames + lightning + one HOT block!
These red and whites are going to make a fantastic quilt.

Emily just saw lightning in the sky--maybe rain is coming. We can pray!

dublb 07-17-2012 06:35 PM

Oooo I love those red & white blocks!!!

gardnergal970 07-18-2012 04:11 AM

Honchey...such beautiful blocks. Your lightening one is really eye catching.

janRN 07-18-2012 04:21 AM

Anne, love the fabric in Lightening-really does look like it's streaking across the sky.

Those red & white blocks are so striking. I always wanted to do a 2 color quilt; let me add that to my list.

grannyQ 07-18-2012 01:01 PM

No, QE, the background is white on white. Thank you.

QuiltingNinaSue 07-19-2012 02:23 PM

Looking through the blocks for inspiration and ideas for lightening 'cause I do not like what I have done...and now have some new ideas that might work better. You all have very nice blocks.!!

Now see if the photo will go through cyberspace... One choice or second choice with the story...of an old Indian storyteller in the mountains telling of "ghost horses thundering" through the storm...in the tepee of young bucks and old squaws...but the squaws do not see the storyteller or hear him...

QuiltE 07-25-2012 06:13 AM

Amazing lightening fabric with horses jumping around in a frenzy!
You have some of the best stories,
QNSue to go along with your blocks.
I keep nudging you ... pleeeeeeeeeease get these stories written down!

Keep them both ... and make your decision when you decide on the block placements.

dublb 07-25-2012 09:00 AM

I really like both o' 'em, but the second one is the most interestin'! Great colors & a story!

I don't like the lightning block so I made a sub. It's called Shadow Rays and the pattern is from the Quilter's Cache.

QuiltingNinaSue 07-31-2012 03:25 AM

I am seeing the quilters cache blocks a whole new way, Anael, and loving your choice of colors that make the block lovely and pop!!! Love that combination of blue; that would look great on a quilt top, repeating itself. IF I have not down loaded the pattern, I will go back and correct my error and down load it. Good job.

carriem 07-31-2012 03:33 AM

Great substitute block! The different blues and white are good combination.

Anael 07-31-2012 03:33 AM

Thanks so much QNSue and carriem! I agree, it would look great on a quilt top but I get bored making the same blocks over and over again!
The Quilter's Cache is a great source of blocks and I love the site! I almost always find a block I like in the right size :)

gardnergal970 07-31-2012 04:33 AM

Anael...what a beautiful block. I've investigated quilter's cache and found many 8 inch blocks that aren't pp or have y seams and have made a couple for this next week. A great site

Anael 07-31-2012 04:59 AM

Thanks GG! I love pp and don't mind y seams :D
You can do this one without pp too, just make templates with the pp foundation pattern.

oksewglad 07-31-2012 05:59 AM

Thanks for the substitute block, Anael. It looks great as usual. White center stars draws you in and then the eyes follow the "rays".

dublb 07-31-2012 04:12 PM

Aneal - Such a beautiful block! I love the way it radiates out!

I am posting the blocks that I finished while we were one our trip. Here is the first set:

carriem 08-06-2012 07:18 PM

Jeanie--great blocks! You did a good job with contrasting fabrics.

dublb 08-06-2012 07:32 PM

You were very busy on your trip! Such lovey blocks!

oksewglad 08-06-2012 08:43 PM

Very nice Jeanie--the red shows up again.

Just heard an interesting thing about lightning. We may be only seeing about 10% of the actual strike when it happens. Much like an iceberg; no wonder why it is so dangerous.

gardnergal970 08-07-2012 04:20 AM

Good job on the y seams, Jeanie. Beautiful blocks.
