QuiltingNinaSue 08-28-2012 04:12 PM

Well Old Indian trails double posted, then listed the first as an attachment... don;t know what happened or how to fix it at this point...If you can, Honchey you have my permission or whomever can fix it online.

oksewglad 08-28-2012 04:34 PM

Anne--this seems like an unusual color combo for you, but very pretty fabric and as always precisely pieced.
QNS--they came up just fine in one post. Of course, pansies in the pansy block! Lovely fall rendition to the Indian Trail.

No blocks this week for me, yet.

here are mine for this week. I just couldn't envisage a Pansy block make with Rose fabric so substiuted the Maple Leaf block for this week.
Hope you like them

janRN 08-28-2012 05:15 PM

Anne, I love the colors you chose--that background fabric is beautiful. Great block.

QNS, you have the most appropriate fabrics; I always love your choices.

Mirab, I just sigh when I see your blocks; they're so pretty and soft. I love them.

oksewglad 08-28-2012 06:45 PM

Another soft sigh going down under! Glad to see you make the maple leaf block. QE will love it for sure.

Honchey 08-28-2012 07:45 PM

I'm trying to do the blocks scrappy & close to the book's colors when I can...although I have strayed from the path quite a bit.

JeanieG 08-28-2012 07:58 PM

Oh very pretty blocks already! Good job everyone! I finished my blocks for this week, but I have to get them scanned. Will post them tomorrow.

What a great variety of blocks (as usual)! :) Keep up the good work ladies.

mirabelle 08-29-2012 04:02 AM

Such beautiful blocks everyone, another week gone and we are getting closer to the finish line:thumbdown:

QuiltingNinaSue 08-29-2012 04:43 AM

Lovely 'eye' candy to see this morning. Honchey, I do look at the colors used in the book, then I go largely for unique one of a kind different block, often changing the dark to light or the reverse of that. When I create a quilt, I like to make it unique for the person it is gifted to...not factory made the same way each time that robots can do. Wonder how many are saying to themselves after reading the statement say, "Yep, we knew that about her!" For 46 years, I have been telling my dh, "Sorry, I am not programed to think or do things that way!!"

Dd of dh's aunt was complaining on "where was her quilt??" when I gifted the aunt and two sons...must think they grow on trees and I could not wait to give away $600 to $1000 worth of work in FIL's memory even though she had done nothing for him as far as I know. Think the aunt will give her quilt to the daughter, but that is out of my hands to control...I tried to explain, it was a memorial quilt, given to those who had given to FIL, and made for individual's taste, and that I did not know her well enough to know her bed size or colors she liked. Not to say I would not "gift" her later on after I finished for others on a list..

Hard to believe we're at week 34.

Honchey 08-29-2012 06:17 AM

Ummmm QNS...How do I get on your list?????

oksewglad 08-29-2012 06:48 AM

Anael, love the little print in your pansy--nice job too.
Jan, your OIT is very striking, but your pansy is down right gorgeous--the marbled fabric is just perfect for the outer petals.

Honchey 08-29-2012 07:14 AM

Jan, I love your blocks, The colors are so pretty and bright... I'm working on Pansy right now...well not right now but as soon as I get off the cp.. I have the rusty swirly fabric and hesitated on using it for any of the blocks. I'm heading to DE for a couple of days...I"ll be bringing my PC blocks with me...I have to find some sashing fabric..I tried to do it without the blocks and it didn't turn out too well...The green in OIT is a Moda line and comes in different colors..I have used the brown in several of the blocks...looks like paintbrush strokes to me...

carriem 08-29-2012 07:35 AM

Honchey--I recognize both fabrics from the Urban Couture Moda line...I used those for a jelly roll race quilt. Wanted to get more for curtains, but it was an older line than I realized and couldn't find the fabrics I wanted in yardage...oh well. :)

Jan--I like the swirl fabric you used. Both blocks turned out very nice.

Just have a lesson in language arts left and school will be done for the day...yay!!!

oksewglad 08-29-2012 08:08 AM

Has the teacher been sneaking away and playing a little hooky already so early in the school year?:D Bet the students love that!

carriem 08-29-2012 08:36 AM

I didn't go too far...they do LA on the main computer in the living room and I am on my laptop. :) Most days I try not to get on the computer while doing school, but there are parts they don't need my help so much any more so I do "sneak" on here. :)

All done now though so it is ok...lunch and then quilting!

landers1 08-29-2012 01:41 PM

All the Pansy blocks have turned out spectacular everyone! Wouldn't that make a beautiful quilt, if we all exchanged just that one block! My pansy is going the wrong way - I always forget to "mirror image" when I print the pattern!

Here are my blocks for this week:

QuiltingNinaSue 08-29-2012 03:52 PM

Jeanie, there is no 'wrong' way on this site and that is why I love it so much. So many beautiful blocks to enjoy morning, noon and night. I love them all. Yes, it would be nice to exchange a block, but its hard for some to keep up with two a week; maybe a celebration at the end at completion...to have names drawn and exchange with one possible...but that would put more work on our leader...and that might not be fair.

Honchey 08-29-2012 04:21 PM

If you can be more specific and explain to me what needs to be done and enough agree to go along with it...I will go along with you and do the posting of the threads....

Honchey 08-29-2012 04:24 PM

Jeanie ,,,all you have to do is rotate the block one turn so that the large light triangle is on the top right...

oksewglad 08-29-2012 05:29 PM

It seems to be shades of purple to be the color of choice in the Pansy block and what beautiful shades as well, Jeanie and Honchey. The OIT lends itself to some really nice FC and Jeanie your's is no exception. Great blocks.

dublb 08-29-2012 05:45 PM

Oh yes! Such lovely blocks!
Honchey - I really like your OIT. I was only able ta guess that it was yours because it was first. Very striking! Your pansy is purple & gold. Very nice!
QNS - Yes, we all know that ya march ta the beat o' a different drummer! These blocks are no exception. I like pansies in your Pansy! I also felt that your OIT did depict a wild trail. Great blocks.
Mirabelle - Your roses do make an awesome OIT. I too can't see my fabric makin' a pansy so I'll do a sub also. Your Maple leaf is perfect! I recognized 'em right away.
Anael - Such a beautiful Pansy! I wish I could plant some pansies, just way too dry. :(
Jan - The movement in your OIT just makes it. Beautiful Pansy. My kids always like me ta plant purple & gold pansies, 'cause that is their school colors. DH & I went ta the other HS here in town so I would some times plant maroon & white pansies just ta annoy my kids.
Jeanie - I think your horses are very happy on your OIT. Great FCing! Love the purple & pink pansy, nice contrast!

Count me in, I'm game for anything. As long as nobody objects to posting to Aus

What fun! Count me in too.

QuiltingNinaSue 08-30-2012 04:54 AM

JeanieG, do tell us the way you would want to exchange [Wouldn't that make a beautiful quilt, if we all exchanged just that one block! ] with all of us on the PC trail. Remember, it would be roses to Aussie Mirabelle, not pansies. How many of us are there now?

dublb 08-30-2012 09:47 AM

Oh this would be fun! Another option might be if we each did a block that represented our our own location. (ie. I would do something TX.) Make 'em all scrappy. If ya'll don't want ta do this I'll do what ever ya'll vote on. One block or location blocks it'll be fun!

JeanieG 08-30-2012 09:53 AM

LOL, it was just an "off the top of my head" type of comment! I was just thinking how beautiful all the pansy blocks turned out.

It's such a great idea!

carriem 08-30-2012 03:40 PM

I am interested. Questions...

Is this a swap where we make everyone a block? Or I send one person a block and that person sends someone else a block? I like the idea of making an "Iowa" type block. The quilt shop where I work has LOTS of novelties, but since I am not using them in my PC blocks, it would be fun to get a few FQs of "farm stuff" to make you all a block to think of Iowa...of course I would sneak in a little KT to remind you of me. :)

carrie

janRN 08-30-2012 05:09 PM

As long as there are no y seams, I'm in!! I like the idea of making blocks representing our hometown like Carrie's idea of "Iowa" blocks. Hmm.......

gardnergal970 08-31-2012 05:02 AM

Jeanie..it looks like your comment is having a snowball affect! We're all sticking together.

mirabelle 09-01-2012 05:21 AM

This has become quite a group  Gee what will be do next year, has Laurie written another book yet:rolleyes:

I had pictured that we were makin' a block for everyone. I'll do what ever everyone wants. It would be cool ta git a farm novilty block from you. :)

QuiltingNinaSue 09-01-2012 09:15 AM

Hey it would be nice to get a 'pure' Texan block. Yeah, I have corn, pigs and produce fabric that could be an "Iowa" block, but no 'donkey' to represent Missouri' s symbol. Maybe I would need to cut out some chickens, ducks and turkeys...guineas, too..or go with the dogwood bloom...I like that latter thought.

How many blocks are we really talking about making? Honchey, QuiltE, JanRN, JeanieG, GGal, Oksewglad, Mirabelle, Dublb, me and how many more????Would not want to leave anyone out that might want to do this!! So sound off on who would...and see if its possible....have you heard of the custom design T shirt place?
